    Front Squats Vs. Zercher Squats.

Simple question for those of you that do these excersises. I want to replace the leg press following squats in BGB. Would it be more beneficial to do F. Squats or Zerchers, or is it basically one of those personal preferences?

If it helps, I don't have the flexibility to do front squats without the strap method that Built has mentioned a few times, I don't know if that will matter or not.

how many times have you tried to do front squats

The first time I tried using a clean grip it was hard to adjust...the next time I threw on some wrist wraps for extra support and tried the clean grip again and it felt perfectly normal

I'd say give it another few tries and go with front squats

I prefer zerchers because I can use more weight and because they teach you very well to use the glutes. They're a better "core" exercise. I get my glutes pumped when I do them.

When I first started front squats, I too couldn't do them properly. Doing them with light weight (usually 135) for sets of 20 has greatly improved my flexibility (both hips and wrists). You don't have to have all your fingers around the bar; having the pinkies off the bar helps tremendously.

Zerchers for the glutes and core, front squats for the quads and posterior chain, back squats for the posterior chain and the quads.

yeah, that's why I prefer to do front squats over zerchers...my quads don't get hit hard enough with back squats. Deads and lunges hit my glutes and hams enough, so my primary focus is bringing my glutes up to par

I guess it really depends on your goals, but I don't think you can go wrong doing zerchers or front squats

Should I maybe add zerchers to my ham day in addition to putting front squats on my quad day?
