The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

No idea. I had a 3 site clip done about 10 pounds ago. Figured I'd be about 20% but I was 26% according to the formula I used. He didn't average it..just provided the millimeters and I looked them up online.

My abdominal outline is clearly visible but not most of the segments. Biceps veins show up occasionally. Id be curious of your guess. My body image is so distorted that all i can see is the flaws..lol. There's a couple pics of me on my wife's fb page from our Myrtle beach trip at a water park. I was probably holding 7-8lbs of water by that point though..lol. If you can't access those pics I'll send.

Those aren't great pics. I don't have a real symmetrical build anyway, but I'm so white I get totally washed out in outdoor pics.

bicep vein and abdominal outline is probably 16-18%

I had a 3 site done about a month and a half ago and was 19% @ 281. I want to get down to 250. That should put me somewhere arount 10%

    fun ride.

10% is super lean. I'd love to get there. 12-13 would make me happy..lol

I would be thrilled if I'm 18%. I'm hoping to get to 190 and reassess.

    Thanks dude.

    WOD

    "Nancy"

    100 pullups
    100 pushups
    100 situps
    100 squats

    Time cap: 35:00

    Got it in 30:17 Rx

Felt really good to workout. Should be able to go 3 days this week. Despite being a very happy person and never moody, I have mild/moderate anxiety most of the time. I refuse to take medication, and one way I manage it is through exercise. It's been creeping up on me the last few weeks from the lack of workouts so I'm anxious (pun intended) to wrap up the PT and get back in the groove.

Weight is 201 this morning. Another pound down, creeping to that goal of (as a friend puts it) weighing "100 sumethin".

Clearly managing well, can't be letting nothing hold you down.

Impressive timing with 'Nancy' - looks great.

    Thanks buddy.

    WOD
    4 Rounds

    15 Wall Ball
    12 Burpees
9 dead lifts @ 225. Still managing my back inflammation, so I subbed 70lb kettle bell high pulls.

10:51. Not too bad. This one was a leg burner and a heavy breather. Should get another WOD in tomorrow, hopefully.

    WOD

100 Walking Lunge with 45lb plate overhead
5 Pushup, 5 Squat penalty each time plate is lowered.

Took 10:12. Had 6 rests, so 30 pushups, 30 squats were mixed in there. Glutes were already sore from yesterday. This is gonna hurt BAD tomorrow..lol

After that, we tried a "skin the cat". That's basically a dead hang from the rings, curling up, rolling all the way back in a tuck, extending, then curling in reverse and back to starting position. WAY WAY more difficult that it looks.

Then did some double unders and general bullshitting.

Yeah, essentially. It's supposed to be slow and controlled all throughout. About the only thing I had control over was the second part of the backflip. I couldn't start the back or front flip without help.

I can touch my toes to a pullup bar from a dead hang multiple times, but I couldn't even get past the initial tuck when using the rings..lol

Wifey wants to join the YMCA so I went in with her tonight on the free trial. While she did zumba i had a 52 secondPR on my 5K time. 26:19. Woot woot!

I'm especially happy since it was a tiny indoor track and I made TWO HUNDRED FOUR (yes, 204) left turns. Probably could have shaved a full minute off my time if it had been a typical 1/4mi track.

    20 Toes to Bar
    20 Push Press (95lb)
    20 Situps
    20 Box Jumps
    50 Double Unders

7:47. Good WOD. Kinda played to my strengths. My time should hold up decently throughout the day.Guy in the class before me got 4:35..lol. BEAST.

Think I'm gonna start juicing soon, once I get things organized.

    Fruit and veggie juicing.

    Thanks for the support, Terry.

    WOD

    4 Rounds

    1/4 mile run
    15 Front Squat @ 115lb

16:45. Feelin ok about this one. My legs are killing me. My right leg is always more sore than the left. Always has been, and I have no idea why. My form is good. Maybe it's a little shorter than the left or something..lol

Wife wants to join the YMCA. Although im not quitting Crossfit, this'll be a good opportunity to spend some quality fitness time together. It may sound cheesy, but thats something I've always wanted in a partner. So hopefully this'll turn out well and i can do some extra strength work too. We'll have $165/month in gym memberships but it'll be worth it.

And I can work on my swimming!

I notice some fatigue imbalances too when I do WODs that contain /per side movements (like Kb one arm thrusters). So you are purchasing a gym membership in addition to CrossFit?

that's HUGE. I would pay ridiculous money to get my wife to go to the gym with me.. but she's just not into it. meh, oh well..

nice time on that last WOD, however, I think I could do that sub 18:00.. step it up skinny

Any squatting i do always ends up with right leg soreness..lol It's weird and i feel like i'm hindering progress or potential if im using one leg more.

Yeah it'll just be in addition to crossfit. I need that camaraderie and accountability that comes with the group aspect of crossfit so I'm not going anywhere

Jake, a 115 front squat would be like without a bar for you..lol.you could probably do it sub 15:00. I was working out with one big strong guy who's a decent runner, and two guys who are great runners, one of which played college football so he's also strong. I just tried to keep up with the other runner. I'd catch him on squats, then he'd catch me on runs. Squatting was last so I beat him by half a rep..lol

PT told me today that my right leg soreness might be an involuntary action created by favoring the weak paraspunal muscle on my left side. Gonna continue to work on strengthening it.

    WOD

    21,15,9

    Burpee Pullups
    Box Jumps

    9:04.

Not the best but not the worst. I was sucking wind by the second round. Burpees are infinitely more difficult when you not only jump afterward, but NEED that jump to aid in the efficiency of the pull up.

    Tough WOD.
