The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Lol..no doubt. Gonna cost a lot of $$$$$!

Wife's vehicle has been in the shop so I've been taking everyone to school the past 3 days. The car is back though I got one in this morning in the backup gym (aka family room).

    5 Rounds

    10 Ground to overhead @ 92lb
    15 KB Swing

Took like..15:41? I think..Felt pretty good. Really hoping to get the basement back soon. It's a wreck after the work we did and my days off have pretty much all been moving Rock around the yard..lol. I've only got a couple hundred pounds left, finally. Diet has been good. Sitting at 204-205 and going down slowly. My goal is 198 by Sea World.

Thanks fellas. It's been hectic the past week. Got in a quick one today. I think crossfit calls it "Randy".

    75 Power Snatch @ 75lbs. Mine was 77lbs

Took 9:31. Two minutes slower than I did it a couple years ago..lol

We're gutting both bathrooms soon. Glad I don't do my workouts in there! LOL

    Found this workout at wodshop.com

    For time..

    500m Run
    25 Thrusters (77lb)
    20 KB Swing (53lb)
    15 Overhead Squat (77lb)
    10 Burpees
    500m Run
    10 Burpees
    15 OHS
    20 KB Swing
    25 Thrusters
    500m Run

30:20. Really tough, probably because my conditioning isn't where it was a few months ago. It felt good though.

any time I see 500m run, I always associate it with sprint training when we would do burnout training for the 400. Brutal. thats a solid WOD there. and yeah, weeks turned into months. that's how shit happens I suppose.

Thanks for the read fellas. And Rob I agree, sprints are awful. Mine started out a jog and the last one was a shuffle..lol

Sore as shit Thursday and Friday. Super busy all weekend. It never ends, but life is great.

    Today..another from wodshop.com

    20 minute AMRAP

    5 Push Press @ 80lb
    10 sit-ups
    15 ball slams @ 20lb

Got 11 Rounds plus 5 push press. Good little workout. I kept pretty much the same pace throughout.

Thanks for the read, Terry. Much appreciated as always.

Andrew..it was a good one. My conditioning is so bad though. I should have had 14-15 rounds.

It actually called for a weighted vest but I don't have one--but you do I'm sure.

    Today..in the driveway again.

    500m Run

    3 Rounds

    10 Power Clean @ 140
    15 KB Swing

    500m Run

Not sure what my time was. I think it was around 13 minutes. Not too bad I suppose.

Thanks man. I'm tryin to at least maintain to some degree. I'm sure I'll have some catching up to do but I've maintained or lost weight and I've been able to work on my running some. I've hot 5 days off starting tomorrow so I'll have my gym set back up.

You taking a layoff from it or just tone it down?

    ---Monday

    4 Rounds

    10 Push Press @ 100lbs
    10 Back Squat @ 100
    500m Run

I think it was 18 minutes. Seems slow.

    ---Today

    3 Rounds

    30 Double Unders
    25 Ball Slams
    20 Sumo High Pull @ 80lbs
    15 Med Ball Cleans
    10 Burpees
    5 Push Press @ 80

I think it took 23:46. This was a bad one, and mainly because I'm just out of shape compared to 6 weeks ago. Not a big deal. If it hurts, it hurts..lol

Way to get back into it. Conditioning should be back soon. No strength work?
Move heavy weight, eat, sleep, repeat.

Thanks Coke. I would make some sort of retirement joke or something but I shall refrain.

Doug, I haven't had access to my rack and platform for..6 weeks? Frustrating, but I got everything cleaned up and organized during a 5 day stretch off work. I bet I had 16 hours in that effort..

Got in the rack this morning. Just did some squats to get acclimated to loading again.

    95 x 10
    115 x 5
    135 x 5
    145 x 5
    155 x 5
    160 x 5
    185 x 3

    Then ran 2000 meters

Did a few sets of ab stuff

Geez how did this session feel? What was preventing you from getting to your platform for 6 weeks?

I'm sore but not too bad. I died on the dips. I was up to +25 x 5 and bw x 10 before the layoff..lol

We did a first phase renovation of the basement. Everything was askew and covered in drywall dust, splintered wood, nails and various other shit. I spent about 16 hours cleaning it and wiring outlets last weekend. The floors are getting redone later this summer hopefully. Once that's finished I'm taking over our garage family room as my gym. It's got higher ceilings and concrete floor under the carpet so I'll gut it and put down stall mats with plywood and such. Should be a nice setup when I'm finished.

Bill Starr's 5 x 5 Day 1 (going out of town so day 2 will be next week..lol)

I'm looking for a routine that forsnt bore me, includes cleans a d doesn't take too long since time is my enemy most days.

    Power Clean

    115 x 5
    125 x 5
    135 x 5
    145 x 5
    155 x 5

    Bnch Press

    135 x 5
    135 x 5
    135 x 5
    135 x 5
    135 x 5

    Squat

    155 x 5
    155 x 5
    155 x 5
    155 x 5
    155 x 5

Nothing too heavy. Strength should return over the next couple weeks, just in time to lose it again while at Sea World.

It's kinda cool mixing upper, lower, and power movements.

LOL..wow. I didn't realize it'd been that long since I logged. I got in 2-3 more 5x5's before we left for Florida. Got home last week. A fun but exhausting trip. Did TONS of walking in the heat. I got in a scale at Sea World in one of the attractions and weighed 201..lol. Wasn't getting enough water. By the way..the water in Orlando smells and tastes like shit. Ok, it's actually sulfur, but it's nasty nonetheless. I could even smell it on my skin after a shower.

Got one in this morning. Still working my way up a bit before going into the Starr program. Wife and I are getting back to our evening workouts starting tonight as well, and now that things are settling down for a while so I can get back on the grill more often. I'm sick to death of eating in restaurants..lol. I can't believe I just said that.

    Power Clean

    115 x 5
    135 x 5
    145 x 5

    Squat

    135 x 5
    145 x 5
    155 x 5

    Bench

    135 x 5, 5, 5

Nothing major. Just following the Starr template I have. I'd like to get my set of 5 PC to 175, Squat to 205 and Bench to 155 before doing the calculations for the routine. Shouldn't take long. That should give me a good workout while still giving me room to pick up speed before I hit my previous 5 rep maxes, which should be around 185, 255 and 185, respectively. I'm so weak. I've got to get some consistency going for more than 6 weeks at a time. I'm spinning my wheels the way I've been going. I try really hard to not miss out on time with the kids and the wife because those are #1. I can't miss morning sessions so much anymore.
