    Anyone use wrist braces?

Ive seen oly lifters as well as other lifters wear things aroudn their wrists... does this prevent wrist damage or something? It seems like it would prevent the wrist from bending too much.

Wrist wraps are what powerlifters typically use... they contribute added support to the wrist and help keep it stable. I've used them for oly lifts as well... as front squats are especially hard on them.

Yes they are called wrist wraps and are for stability. Especially for benching. You can get Titan or Inzer ones and they are around $20 or so for a pair.

I used wrist wraps for more support in the wrists when lifting. I have troubles with my wrists zinging somtimes and this helps keep it down.

I got a pair of gloves with a built in wrist support. I was having issues with my ligaments/bones in my forearms hurting and while my friend was spotting me I realized that squeezing me wrists made them feel better. So I just wore the gloves w/wrist braces for a couple weeks and the pain went away. It also made me capable of doing a few more lbs on bench.

Couldn't you increase the strength in your wrists with forearm exercises?

I can see the point in using wrist straps on heavy days, and with exercises such as front squats and any exercise that has the wrist moving a lot.
    Starting over...

You could, but I don't think even the strongest wrist is going to stop 400+ lbs from falling onto you if a barbell is unsteady. Wraps can do that much better.

I don't know how much it actually helps, but they certainly make me feel more stable during the lift.

(I only use them for bench)
