The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Deadlifts hurting groin area

When I do deadlifts it is seriously hurting like the bones of my inner thighs. The muscle is fine, I get the normal soreness you would expect but I also get pain in my inner thighs that feels like it's skeletal or something. It makes it so walking is slightly painful and having weight on my body is painful.

I'm sure my form is perfectly fine but why do you think I would get this type of pain from doing the deadlift? Regardless of whether I do it sumo style or legs more straight it still hurts.

No insurance... I figured there might be some kind people here who may have experienced similar pain and could give some insight instead of... y'know, a-holes.

I think the voice of reason would probably say, go ask the intelligent people at WBB who probably know whats wrong, before possibly wasting your time and money at a doctor.

Anywho, what is your form like? Are you deadlifting sumo?

How long have you been deadlifting? Has this always happened when you deadlift?

I use the sumo form when I'm lifting heavier weight (when warming up I stand more normally). It hasn't always hurt like this, only the last few times I've deadlifted. I drive my feet as hard into the ground as I can as I start the lift. It feels like I can lift the weight in front of me easily but as I start the lift that area starts to hurt and once I'm done and I move and walk around it hurts like hell.

I wish I could get video but my gym won't allow it... I might be able to get video at my friends house. I'll try to get it later.

Maybe you're using more weight than you think you're capable of right now. Try lowering the weight for a while and work your way up. You might be straining a bit too much. I don't know what your form is like, so it's hard to say.

Red Spikey Thing, i think your first reply was ******ed.

To the OP: Try some warm ups and stretches before getting into the heavy weights. i have found that a few minutes on an elliptical or running on the track followed by a few curlers stretches (groin stretches) have helped me in this situation before.

    see how it goes.

If you are pulling heavy sumo, warm up with that stance. Why would you warm up with a close stance and then go to your heavy work wide stance? Your hips/groin are probably not ready for the heavy set.
