The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

OH NOOOOOOOO!!! I'm turning into a hardcore kid!

I've been liking nothing but metalcore. All that remains, autumn burns red, Jesse's Killswitch Engage, shadows fall, as I lay dying, Bleeding through.

But I've also been into Dillenger Escape Plan, Opeth, Red Tide and Between the Buried and me. Everything I write is deathmetal tremolo picking with grindcore riffs, and I still try to be melodic.

This is a strange calling, I need something new and fresh!

    lol what?

I've played classical piano for over a dozen years and I'm into some pretty 'artsy' music, and I still listen to DCFC quite often.

Then again I play with barbie dolls, to YMMV.

You can't put haste the day and Job for a Cowboy in the same list yo! Thats disguisting! Cowboy rule, I dug Haste the Days' when everything fails...

AAAAAAAS for Death Cub, I do have a cd of theirs before they became the 'OC' band - its not bad. If I was going to listen to something like that I'd listen to Dredg. As much as the information is appreciated guys, throw me a curve ball!

Ah, Opeth. Good band. As well as Dredg. I'll throw out some random bands.

Porcupine Tree - The main guy is friends with Mikael from Opeth. They started psychedelic but now they're more rock. A blend of Opeth and the Beatles I would say. In Absentia and their latest Fear of a Blank Planet are my fav.

Dream Theater - you've probably know them seeing the bands you listen to already. But if you haven't heard them check out their latest Systematic Chaos. Other good ones are Images & Words, Awake and Scenes from a Memory.

Oceansize - sorta like Dredg but a little heavier and more raw. Everyone into Position is good.

Muse - fairly well known band. Started out kinda Radiohead-ish but now have their own sound.

Machinehead - again, you probably already know them but just in case. Their latest The Blackening kicks major ass.

Symphony X - along the lines of Dream Theater with classical influence. A little cheesy at times but good music.

Pain of Salvation - you either love em or hate em. Progressive metal. I can't think of any other band they sound like. I like their older stuff more...Entropia, One Hour by the Concrete Lake.

Devin Townsend - This guy is a monster. Crazy death metal - check out his band Strapping Young Lad. Melodic hard rock - Devin Townsend Band. My fav of his though is Ocean Machine.

Soilwork - A more modern, melodic version of In Flames. Their album Natural Born Chaos is heavy but very melodic.

Fair to Midland - relatively new mainstream rock band (though they've been together for 10 years or so). I'm digging their latest album.

dream theater is pretty good, I think their downfall is their singer, sometimes I like him sometimes I don't. Opeth is a damn good band. I would look into other bands that started around the same time. Cannibal corpse is always good but a little more heavy.

I like shadows fall for that reason. They actually have some melody in their songs.

Funny you should get on the shadows fall thing, I had a few beers with Brian when they came to town. I was wondering who this long hair dreaded dude was when he was buying me drinks, I'm in about 10 peoples photos when they came up to chat with him!

Brian himself when he was in Overcast said he didn't want the music they where making to be called metal, they were riffing with melodies but just didn't want the 'metal' tag attached to them.

Thanks for the input all, keep it coming!
