Vick, OJ, & Tyson are the Wasted Talent Dynasty

For those that thought Vick was innocent in some areas of his dogfighting, think again. He admitted yesterday in a written guilty plea that he killed 6 of the 8 dogs. He also admitted his 'enterprise' was affiliated with gambling that he was part of. He 3 ex-friends also admitted to similar things. The state of VA now is in cruise control to send him to jail for a long time. Vick had now an opportunity for the maximum sentence of 5 years per dog or 30 years total (6 dogs x 5 years/dog). Forget about football. He needs to find a new lawyer or pray that he will even be alive when he gets out if given the maximum sentence. The case already has shown that Vick, who was once untouchable in our eyes, is probably worse off than most people ever were.

Tyson pleaded guilty to DUI charges and can get 3-4 years in jail for that and coccaine possession. Seems a lot more than Lohan ever got. But then again Tyson has a bunch of haters.

OJ is well... OJ. No need to say more.

Vick, Tyson, and OJ are part of the Wasted Talent Dynasty. It is amazing how much Vick and Tyson especially have fallen. Millions gone, and jail time to rot away the talent they once possessed.

At least Tyson and OJ's careers were over, so you can't really say they "wasted" their talents. Vick still had plenty of years left to accomplish more in his career, and now he won't get the opportunity. Now THAT'S a waste.

Tyson was in jail during his prime for rape. He also lost all his money. OJ Simpson was in the movies since 1968 up until his last movie was released right before he took a drive in his Bronco for the world to see. I would say then OJ wasted his acting career, Tyson wasted a lot of his boxing career, Vick wasted everything.

I do not mean to bring anyone down, but you might as well add Maurice Clarett to that list as well.

It is good that they will be held accountable for this cruelty. It is disgusting that people are still fighting dogs.

Agreed. If he had not tried to be a pioneer coming out of college too soon, he would be in the NFL today.

I think it's safe to sat that Vick is a complete moron. That would be like Bill Gates selling coke on the side. How could you screw up something you have going for you that is not only profitable but your daily job is to play a game.

Its real simple, you can take Vick out the hood but you can't take the hood out of Vick.

Sorry i have nothing to add

I was not saying a human being was engaging in combat with a dog when I used the phrase "fighting dogs" any more than I would say a preacher engages in polyamory when he "marries a couple". I suspect you realize that.

    Superman,
I am not an Ohio State fan. I do not really watch football that much any more. I am the only person in my family, and one of the few in Ohio who will watch the Michigan game hoping OSU will lose. So I am not very knowledgeable about Clarett's situation. I remember when he was caught with all of the firearms and body armor and some other stuff before that. When this happened there were several theories mentioned on the news. One was that he was going to go murder someone who was to testify against him in a case. Another theory was a rather bizarre one involving Clarett being indebted to an Israeli gangster and in fear for his life. I do not know what is true. Whatever the situation was, it does seem that he has wrecked his life pretty badly. And he has had other legal problems in the past. I think it was a robbery charge he had against him at the time he was caught with the weaponry. I did not really follow his story, but it is really hard living in Columbus, Ohio and not hearing about every single thing involving Ohio State. People all over the country probably heard about this one though.

How could you screw up something you have going for you that is not only profitable but your daily job is to play a game.
Essentially, he felt "untouchable". He believed the law and morality did not apply to him because of his sports-star status and wealth. It is indeed karmic retribution that he will be plunged into a world of incredible violence and brutality when he goes to prison.

Did he admit thoughs things after striking a deal with the DEA or before that process even got started? cause if he did it for a deal it probably isn't true. He might have done more might have done less but to get the deal you got to compromise. I'n most cases though they did more then they are willing to admit and thats why the take the deal.

Tyson is the most interesting of these. OJ had his career (and it was a great one). Vick was never going to be "the greatest." He was really pretty mediocre as a QB.

Tyson might have been the best ever if he had continued on the path he was on with his original team. Go back and look at those early fights. He was a monster in the ring, and his boxing skills were still rudimentary.

Had he continued to develop, he probably would have retired years later undefeated.

And he was exciting. He was a knockout waiting to happen on every punch, not a boring 12 round decision. He could have lived a great and rich life, and been one of the greatest athletes of all time, yes, even greater than Sorenstam (OK OK don't go there).

For OJ, it was more of his acting career and his icon status that were destroyed. I would say Tyson had it worst of all since he was supposed to be the greatest of all time. Vick is unknown even though people say he was a mediocre qb, he could of broken lots of records and possibly gone to a few superbowls if he had a decent receiver like Moss or Owens or a future star like Calvin Johnson. Clarett would of been ok in the NFL. But being ok in the NFL is better than not being in the NFL.

I love my dogs. I have five.

But man, I don't believe he deserves five years per dog. That' ridiculous.

It's an animal. Vick could have killed some endangered species and not even received a sentence that high.

I mean, come on. Rapists don't even serve ten years on average, and nearly everyone would consider that to be a much worse offense than something as trivial as dog fighting.

Ask yourselves: What's worse, rape or dog fighting?

I believe they are now trying to make an example out of Vick. I do feel 5 years per dog is a little harsh. But from Vick's continuous disrespect for laws and his recent drug test (weed is fine, but getting caught with it in your system while on bail is just beyond stupid) he really needs to get a reality check. I would say 5 years in jail is the most I would give him. It is apparent his apology was a lie, so wouldn't it be messed up if he got only a year in jail and like 10 years from now he gets caught fighting dogs again?

I would say rape and dog fighting are equally as bad as you are making both a human and a dog do something they never wanted to do in the first place.

Yes, they're making an example out of Vick. And they rightfully should. If you're that big of a **** up the justice system should pin you to the cross. OJ on the other hand.......I think he's too cool to throw behind bars.

Whilst I think dog fighting is a terrible, terrible thing and shouldn't occur anywhere in the world I definitely do not think that it is on par with rape.
