    Jazz it up

Hey whats going on, i've been listening to a lot of Miles Davis and Buddy Rich's band lately, but I don't know too much jazz.

Could you guys just give me a bunch of suggestions on some good jazz bands/musicians. Swing/Blues/bebop/latin jazz/fusion or just whatever you guys listen to that has a jazz or latin feel to it.

Also... Ragae would be pretty cool too.

If you haven't listened to it I'd suggest Miles Davies - Kind of Blue.
The Cat Empire - Self Titled
The Cat Empire - Two Shoes
Aussie band who are absolutely fantastic for real get up and dance latin fusion kind of stuff.
Can't think of anyone else off the top of my head.

Look into John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk. All great.

Avishai Cohen is AMAZING, for something a bit more contemporary.

Happy Anniversary Charlie Brown--it's a bunch of tunes from the Peanuts movies done by a bunch of jazz greats like Dave Grusin, Chick Corea, Dave Benoit, Lee Rittenour, Dave Brubeck. very cool listening.

I hate you with such a flaming passion. I've wanted to see them live for ages... And when I was finally old enough they were on the other side of the world!

    Being watched by Sidior!

    They're awesome .

Al Mingus, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Coltrane, Parker, Thelonius Monk, Fats Dominoe,Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Coleman Hawkins, Billy Holiday, Scott Joplin, Django Reinhardt (you may not like him, gypsy jazz guitar player, probably one of the best guitar players to ever live, no lie), Lester Young. Those are the ones off my playlists, I may remember more later.

In my (admittedly fairly limited) experience, a lot of latin music is more feel good peppy kind of stuff.

Also another suggestion, Ray Charles. Man that guy was fantastic.

I know what you mean, but I just wasn't digging the lyrics/singer. I only downloaded a couple songs though.
