    Dumbbell flyes question

When I do dumbbell flyes I feel it in my shoulders as well as my chest, is it normal to feel it so much in the shoulder area or could my form be a little off? My chest gets to the point of quivering if I try to flex it so I know I'm hitting it at the very least, but the shoulders kind of throw me off because they feel worked as well.

Do you do them after you do bench? I do my flys and db presses after bench, and my shoulders burn like crazy during flys and presses. Normal.

Yeah, I do them after my flat and incline bench. Good to know it's normal, thanks.

Pretty much all chest stuff involves the shoulders to some degree.

Because I like how they feel at the end of a session, it takes every last bit of whatever out of my chest.

Dumbell Flys are fine, dont base your chest workouts around a fly though. But im like you i like to end chest days with cable flys or dumbell flys sometimes

Flyes are kickbacks for the chest.

WoW is a kickback for video games....

Yeah I don't know. I like flyes and they feel great for my chest, which is more than I can say for triceps kickbacks.

I don't necessarily agree with that analogy... its way easier to keep form on flyes than tri kickbacks (which is most people's complaint).

My point is in that both exercises, done "right", you are at more of a mechanical disadvantage than other lifts, and that it doesn't make sense to do them. You can do more weight and recruit more fibers with other exercises.

Flyes will never compare to a compound movement. Ever.

But I still like to include them around the end of a workout to further the affects of Growth Hormone

I don't think anyone was arguing that fact, I just like doing them at the end. They don't replace anything for me.

Unless they are lifts to help increase your squat, bench, and deadlift.

(such as GHR, reverse hypers, tricep extensions, good mornings, weighted ab work etc.)

Sorry, I read wrong and thought it sounded like you were saying someone was using them as a replacement. I didn't get much sleep last night thanks to insomnia.
