    Meniscus

turned out my knee pretty bad playing football...it popped about 3 times

when I tried to walk it out it popped again

I put ice on it for 20 minutes and one of the other trainers (used to be EMT) looked at it. He said it seemed to be lateral which was a good thing.

Currently I can put weight on it enough to limp around...it doesn't really hurt too much it's just a little stiff and a little swollen (not too bad though)

the trainer/ex EMT told me to give it a day and see how it feels tomorrow

anything I should look for as far what would constitute having it looked at? As I said it's just a little stiff, I can bend it slowly without pain and straighten it.

    Should I keep icing it?

If it gives u any problems after a few days I'd still get it looked at just to be cautious.

Edit: I've never dealt with that kind of injury so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I'd keep icing it until the swelling goes down, and once that happens, alternate between icing and heating.

    did some more research

based on what I read it appears that I def. need to go get it checked out

there's a very good chance I'll need surgery with either mild recovery time (5-7 days crutches, 3 weeks off lifting) to more recovery (3 weeks crutches, 2-3 months before any kind of lifting at all on it)

this sucks...we'll see how it goes

Oh man. I feel bad for you. Knee injuries suck bad. I missed atleast 3 months of lifting due to knee problems this past summer. Just make sure you take care of them NOW. Don't let the problem linger or you may never fully recover. Good luck.

Keep off it, keep it iced and elevated. I tore my lateral meniscus a few years back and ended up getting surgery on it. I am pretty much back to 100% these days as far as functionality but its always a bit stiff and def. hurts a bit now and then.
