    RC work

    Stretch

Leg drive is still sloppy, arch is better, and I didn't quite tuck my elbows as much as usual. Still felt strong though, and I am very close to hitting those 325.

Everything else felt very strong today.

Feel free to critique my bench form, etc.

    • 2x25 @ 225

Can't remember the last time I was in the zone like I was today. Just attacking each set, really focused, and hitting the lifts cleanly. Really enjoyed today's lift, felt great.

I think these deficit deads will be good for my regular deads, because they are forcing my leg drive to be more consistent each rep which I believe to be my main problem.

Nice benching there man, that 325 was so close. Yeah it looks like your feet are shuffling around a bit after you get the hand-off; try keeping your feet further behind you how you have them when you're setting up your arch (before you brought them forward again) then drive down with your heels. See if this helps at all.

Yep, that was exactly the advice I got in the members pics video section where I posted it up. I just am unsure on how to drive with my heels, when my feet are even further back? My heels won't be touching the ground (severe newb question I know).

Yeah, my heels don't touch the ground either but I'm still pressing down trying to drive my heels to the floor. Here's a little part of a Metal Militia bench article I read a while back.

"The feet should be tucked behind your knee more towards your head and the angle of your leg from a side view should look like this (<). There is a few reasons for this foot placement the first being the ability to drive hard from your legs without your ass coming up off the bench. The second is stability. The wide stance will provide the base needed to steer heavy weight with a bench shirt on. The actual way you place your feet is also important. We have found that it is best to put the full force of your push onto the balls of your feet but at the same time pressing the heel to the floor"

Got it, I've actually read that somewhere before that your knee/leg should look like ( < ) .

I get it now though, I'm trying to drive with my heels whether they're in contact with the floor or not. I do have a problem with my ass wanting to come up, so if this helps I'll be really happy.

Another awesome lift, stayed tight on every bench. Kept my elbows tucked and feed underneath me. Arch stayed tight and leg drive was back, instead of up.

Thanks man, I don't know yet how my body is going to react to the DE days whether I'll keep them or not...I know Matt Rhodes recommends other things. However for the time being, I'm just going to use them as a way to practice using max force on a weight with a good form.

Good to hear your bench form was solid... I'm sure it'll lead to some nice PR's.

Still hit 405 on squat, was happy to get that again. The 425 was real close, I'll get it next time for sure, just need to keep doing more and more reps with 405+ on squats to get more comfortable under the bar.

Happy with the workouts, GMs felt good, evreythings is good still.

Strongest pressing I've done in a while, very happy with how things are going in the gym.

I'm going to add Close-grip as a main ME exercise instead of having it second and I'll hit 315+ easy.

your close grip is almost as much as your regular grip. you got 320 on april 20th. if the form of close grip morre comfortable to you? i am personally a very close grip bencher. i almost touch the part where the knurling meets the smooth part of the bar.
