The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Going to the gym with your mother

Does anyone else do this? My mom is pretty fit for her age of 43... shes quite lean (6 pack lean) and has been in the fitness game for years. She was a fitness instructor teaching classes since she was 20 up until 35 when she started doing weight training. I got her into lifting heavy, doing squats and such and she says she loves it. Apparently she feels she looks better now than she did in her early 20s.

Im going to try and get her onto this forum. Im happy to have her genetics in a sense, you dont see many fit 40 year old women these days.

If I saw any woman with six pack... my first reaction would be

    HOLY CRAP

Now if my mom saw me what I do to myself in the gym.. face and neck ready to explode when I'm squatting/deadlifting, she would probably ground me for "killing" my body.

My mom came with me to the gym for a while and she loved it too. Then she started a new job at work and just didn't have time to come anymore. A couple days ago she asked me to email her the program she was doing before (WBB1) so I think she might be getting a membership again!

BFGUITAR - well the first day I joined this forum, when I saw Built and her avatar I thought she was a man!

It shocked me pretty much when I realized she is old enough to be my mom.

My mother neglected her body all her life and now has irrepairable muscle atrophy. She gets winded and DOMS from going to the store.

i routinely go with my mom, but its becoming a pain, cause she has no flexibilty what so ever, when ever she is done, she wants me to be done, so ive had to condense my workouts down to accomodate her and such, i cant wiat till my car gets fixed so i can start back going on my own, and i can start back going to different gyms....

It totally is. I wish I could get my mom to go to the gym. She's elderly now, and meticulously avoided all forms of exercise her whole life. Damned shame.
