I think its going to suck. i am still going to watch it.
But from only the trailers, you can tell they have already murderd the orginal story line. I mean they arnt even vampires in the movie.

    Read the 1954 classic first.

My understanding of the movie is its a simular story line as resident evil and all the other zombie movies made in the last couple years. Man made virus gets out in new york turns everyone it mutants. I guess they would have to be nocturnal mutants to even use any of the original story line.

The book is about a plege sort of deal that turns people into vampries. There are 'dead' vampries, that are more animal like and there are living vampries, which can talk etc. And it sort of follows robert neville through out his quest to understand what happened and to possibley find a cure.

The book is by Richard matheson.

This movie trailer reminded me a lot of omega man, I really thought this was going to be a remake the first time I saw the trailer. That would have excited the living crap out of me... the original omega man was a great movie.

I haven't read the book and don't plan to so I can enjoy this movie. Sort of like the X-Men movies... people who haven't followed X-Men that heavily like the movies but avid fans hated them. I used to watch X-Men as a kid, but that was so long ago that I forgot most things that would make me dislike the film.

I plan to see this movie though.

I was reading the book while they were filming this movie outside my workplace. They emptied out blocks of Fifth Avenue in NYC just for Will Smith to film 1 scene.

Story in the book was based in California and the main character was not black. So it's already very, very different.

I've read the book. I'll watch the movie, it has potential whether it follows the book or not.

The movie looks like it'll be a Will Smith version of many simlar movies released over the last few years. It does, however, look like it has some colorful shots and a decent budget.

Probably will wait until it goes to the $1 theaters.

Omega Man is one of my favorites. I am a huge fan of post-apocalyptic movies, so I'm sure I will enjoy this one.

I'm a zombie movie enthusiast, as weird as it sounds. And I do realize they aren't really zombies in I Am Legend but it's a similar premise. Omega Man was also a pretty good movie and this one looks like the only thing I might not like is the monsters. I always feel let down when I see the actual monsters in movies... they always look corny.

But does anyone else find the CGI to look a bit too fake for their looks?

For some reason the whole CGI thing still hasn't impressed me yet. Even though it's fairly expensive to do, CGI is still at the point where I'm not sure it's even better than some of the old-school graphics.

I just saw it tonight and it was pretty much resident evil with Will Smith. It ended too soon IMO. I thought they could have kept the storyline going. Does anyone know how the book ended?

It was good, different from the book but what movie isn't?

Will Smith looked ripped in this, plus he was an Army officer. thumbs up.

I got ahold of the BBC radio play of it. My bet is that it completely pwnz the movie in its face.

In the book, the vampires capture him and execute him. By being the only human, he becomes like the boogey man to them.
