The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

What is the best or darned good weightlifting DVD?

I have been working out on and off for about 10 years, but have been going at it seriously for about 2 years or so.

The thing is, there are a lot of exercises that I just don't know the names of that I would like to start doing, and getting the best form possible (I have no ego, I want to avoid injury) and get really strong lifting weights the right way.

Plus, I don't work out with anyone, so I want to work out without depending on anyone.

Please, hook me up with some links, some titles, and if I can find these vids used off Amazon that would be awesome.

Sometimes books are better than video,s IMO.

This one is pretty good 1989 but still great.

Joe Weider's Ultimate Bodybuilding by Joe Weider and Bill Reynolds

    And not forgetting

The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bill dobbins 1999.

    Both on amazon

Books and the right authors on Youtube.

I can't really comment on books as I don't own any yet...
Squat form, type "Sensei Squat" into youtube. Start-a-Learnin'.

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Terrible selection unless you like just looking at pictures.

As far as books go, I'm currently reading McRobert's Build Muscle, Lose Fat, Look Great. It seems to have pretty good advice on form for the basic (or best) exercises. As for video clips, I've found good instruction on the crossfit website, especially for olympic type lifts and other more "exotic" exercises. Just click on "exercises and demos" in the left column. Youtube is good as well, as mentioned, but you really need to be familiar with the author because you'll run across everything there.

It is currently a fad, at this writing, for boys to think they need a "six pack", although most of them don't have an ice chest to put it in.
