How do I educate my friend?

My friend says that cleans don't do anything.

I mentioned that I wanted to start doing cleans sometime and he said power cleans will work your back a little bit but thats all. He said that hangcleans do nothing. He is a huge know it all who thinks that bench is king and that he is always right.

    His workout yesterday consisted of
    Flat bench 9x3
    Incline 9x3
    Close grip 5x5
    Pushdowns 4x6-10
    Lat raises 5x(dunno reps)
    Pull downs 5x "
    one armed DB rows 5x
    Hammer curls 5x

Lasted over 1 1/2 hours. Sure he is strong, but not as strong as he should be for how long he has been working out. He has three years more experience than me but he isn't that much stronger than me.

Example of his know-it-all attitude: I see a guy that isn't very big but moving serious weight on bench.
I ask him what he does.
    He tells me.
I explain it to my friend.
He says lets get the program from him (we had been looking for a new program)
    I do.
    I give it to him.
He doesn't follow it AT ALL.

He also insists that there are 3 different muscles in your chest and that thats why you have incline, flat, and decline.

He turns his nose up at deadlifts and whenever we do them its because I insist on it. (I think it might be because I can do more than him.)

He has been working out for about 4 years and when I brought up the term "hypertrophy" he didn't know what it meant.

SOOO, now that ya'll know his personality a little bit, how do I go about telling him that he is wrong?

Tell me about it. He is super immature. I want a new workout buddy...but there isn't anybody I know that would be willing to go 4-5 days a week.

He says he is on a forum, but he didn't tell me which one.

I'm tempted to just workout with my cousin. Yes she is a girl, yes she is overweight, but at least she acts her age. I don't know what to do.

i would just go by myself, don't let someone else interfere with the way you want to train, especially if they're like" deadlifts are stupid" and think bench is the most important exercise........ People don't mind spotting generally, just be appreciative and don't hesitate to spot someone when they ask you (karma) post up a sign in the gym, i dunno if they have a bulletin board or not, but post up that you are looking for a lifting buddy..........it's tough to find someone who will work as hard as it takes to be serious into lifting.

My best guess is he has a weak lower body, basically weak on everything except bench, therefore bench is the only one that matters.

Just let him do his lifts, you do yours, and see who makes more progress over the next year.

Well see thats the thing. He has been working out for a WHILE. I have only been trying to get stronger since may. Before then I was just going for high reps, endurance, and I was running a lot.

As of right now my combination is 5lbs higher than his...and thats with a 225 bench. (I know it sucks)

I think I will work by myself and just go for a 3RM instead of a 1RM on the days where I am lifting super heavy. I read in an article that your 3RM weight + 10% is about your 1RM weight. How accurate is that?

    plus

    equals

Being a strong teenager means nothing.

My wrists hurt, but some people don't have wrists to be sore. My knees have tendinitis, but some people don't have legs to get tendinitis in. I seem to be going backwards with training, yet some people can't even walk let alone lift 400 pounds on a daily basis.

Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.

Just tell him about the site and tell him to read everything on it. He most likely wont bother though.
