The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

YOU'RE paranoid?! I should be considering I'm pretty far from 900. Based off the title of his journal, I think it'll be a close one.

Dudes: I humbly beg your forgiveness for my fat laziness lately. I will explain it (no excuses, just what's been up) in a bit.

6/19 - back in the gym after a crazy week

warmup: 5 minutes on elliptical, stretches

    Bench:

    bar x 10 x 2
    75 x 5
    95 x 5
    135 x 3
    160 x 5 x 3 (PR +1r)

This is the same weight in which I failed on the last rep last time. I either got stronger or more determined, either way I'm moving up to 165 next time.

    Deadlift:

    135 x 5
    185 x 5
    225 x 5 (switched to neutral grip)
    275 x 3 (add chalk)
    315 x 2 + 2 + 1

    Meh, not great.

    Incline DB press:

    50s x 5 x 3

These were tougher than last time, hmm.

    Fat pull ups

    BW x 5
    BW x 4
    BW x 3

    Ok I guess.

    Decline situps

    BW x 10 x 3

I wonder if these are what hurt my lower back last time, it didn't feel great while doing these.

    20 minutes on elliptical

    Playlist:

    Throwdown - Venom and Tears
Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin, a few songs on Anthems of Rebellion

Not bad, I'm ready to make some gains though. I tried my free Results tonight about 1 hr before my workout, no idea if it helped. My energy was decent considering I had one meal today. I will keep taking the results and see if it's all it's cracked up to be. I do appreciate the free tub though, ALN!

Now, as for what I've been up to, 2 things-

1- I've been working a lot, and I've been to 2 job interviews with a company and it looks like I may have a new job with them soon. It may/should increase my salary by 50%, which is huge, because...

    2- I'M GONNA BE A DAD!

My wife is pregnant. We broke the news to our families on Father's Day by giving each of our dads "Worlds Best Grandpa" tshirts, which was a really gratifying way of telling them. I have to give God some praise on this one, the timing is excellent as I'd really like my wife to be able to stay home with the kid for a few years, and this new job would facilitate that. And furthermore she has a condition that makes it hard for her to get pregnant. Way to go, swimmers!

So things have been crazy around here, and with all the new stuff I've never had to think about (my wife is sick every day and is really relying on me to do things she normally took care of, for one), I just lost focus on the gym. Fortunately it was only for about a week, which in the grand scheme of things isn't that bad, and I didn't lose any strength apparently. Now it's just time to hit it hard. My kid is just more motivation, as I don't want him thinking I'm a wuss or something.

Yeah, it's stupid but it's how our brains work I guess. I know the pins are there, and I don't care what people at my gym think (I'm pretty sure they think I'm weird because of the lifts I do anyway), but it still gets to me.

Thanks man. I got a black 1 prong forever belt from Inzer. When you measure for it, measure around your stomach where you would put the belt, and measure it "tight". Loosely I have a 44" stomach, and the 2xl belt I ordered is just too big, xl would've been perfect.

Don't get stuck in it like I did mine the first time I put one on, lol.
Yep, all you can do. I just want to do better and it's frustrating to have a bad night when I have so many better lifters on WBB to compare myself to. The belt was not as stiff as I was expecting, though heh, I did get stuck in it for a second on the tightest setting.

Thanks for stopping by mmmduff. Heh, I don't think I need to bulk right now dude. Stronger and less fat is the goal! Maybe 3 years from now it'll fit well.

Wow congratulations, bud!! That's amazing. That's much better news to share than hitting any type of PR, lol. I'm sure you'll be a great father! Make sure to hit him hard with the weights as soon as he walks! J/K.

Indeed it is, it's some of the best news I've ever been able to share. Thanks man, I am so excited. And yeah if it's a boy (my wife thinks it is) I will be encouraging him to come lift with dad. He'll get an early start so he can put me to shame by the time he's in college. Not too early of course.

Good looking out. Im gonna order one in soon ( well not for a couple months ) and thats good to know for sizing purpose's. Ill get it before I max out again, this way I can get use to it and break it in a little bit. Ive never squated or deadlifted in a belt before.

I'd suggest black. I've heard horror stories of 6 week wait times when you order a weird color, but I ordered mine on Monday and got it on Friday. Also, I'd suggest 10mm, most people I've talked to or read comments from say the 13mm is too thick for most people. If bjohnso's got his yet you can ask how his 13mm is working out for him.

Yeah, still working out, ready to make some actual gains rather than working back up to where I was. It's a pretty amazing feeling. You've got plenty of time to get there. I wouldn't wish this on someone who isn't ready or doesn't want children, but I'm as ready as I'll ever be and I can't wait to be a daddy.

Thanks for the well wishes bro. There's been some celebration but there's also a lot of work to be done. I am indeed psyched. If I think about it for any length of time I start to get jittery. Gotta wait til January though.

When I opened the bottle of Results I was worried, it has a very strong, unpleasant smell. But surprisingly it doesn't taste too bad. It's not good, exactly. I wouldn't drink it for fun. But it's not nearly as bad as the smell.

Damn, that's awesome news, bro. Congrats! Good luck with the job too, that'd definitely be a huge pay hike. Just go with the flow and lift when you can. We'll all still be around here when you need us, man (like we'd be anywhere else ) Your lifts are lookin solid too. That bench is movin up nice and steady. What's your 1RM at these days? You should give it a go. Also, why only add chalk at 275 on the deadlift? I practically bath in that **** before I even touch the empty bar, lol. Tell the wifey we all said congrats, bro.
