The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Great PR man. It's tough to have solid training sessions when there is lots going on with life. Stick with it and keep workin hard dude.
Thanks dude, for the comments and for dropping by. Yeah life happens, I don't stress it too much anymore because it never seems to help, so I just get back to it when I can.

Another PR on bench now!! Man your training is coming along nicely. Great rack pulls too, I love rack pulls haven't done them in awhile come to think of it.

The masses appear to disagree with you. It's about ****ing time you responded. You should at least wait awhile to retaliate so that a) I don't expect it, and b) it doesn't come off all forced and pathetic.

Thanks K. I haven't used the belt in a while, as I don't want to depend on it too much. Yeah the bench is/was moving along. I'll hopefully go over 2 plates before the end of 2008.

Thanks man. I can't say I love rack pulls but they were alright. I may try them again down the road if/when lockouts become a weakness.

I haven't been lifting much. I dunno if I pulled a trap muscle when I was doing the rack pulls, or if I just slept with my neck in a funny position, but my right trap from the bottom of the muscle on up my neck to where it attaches to my head hurts and has been hurting for a few days. It hurts to do the big 3, OH press, row, and I haven't even attempted shrugs. Pretty much everything I do hurts. So I'm waiting this out. Maybe it's a pinched nerve, I don't know, but it's annoying as hell and has put me in a terrible mood for the last week. I've even had lots of free time so I could be making more progress in my lifts but it even hurts to lay in bed. Maybe I'm being a pussy, whatever, I just hope it goes away soon.

Ouch. I cramped up my left trap last time I deadlifted for a PR. Can't imagine pulling that ****. Dude, you're not being a pussy. That sort of thinking is what got my arm all ****ed up and took me out of benching for several weeks. Just rest plenty.

    Squat:

    bar x a lot
    95 x 5
    135 x 5
    185 x 5
    225 x 5
    265 x 3

Blah, this was crap, but that always happens when I dont' lift for a while.

    OH press:

    bar x 10
    75 x 5
    95 x 3 x 5

I could've pushed myself more on the work sets here.

    Deloaded BO rows:

    135 x 3 x 5
    155 x 5

Practice hook grip some, but my hands were too sweaty a lot of the time.

    HS Shrugs:

    205 x 3 x 10

I didn't want to go too heavy on these just in case, but they felt ok.

    Seated calf raises:

    1 plate x 10
    2 plates x 4

My right calf cramped up on the second set, very annoying. I even stretched a lot before I started today.

My right shoulder/trap/whatever still felt kind of bad today but nothing like it was this past week. Some excedrin back and body pills helped. My next workout will be better. I was just happy to get some work in.

Heh. I should have, it was in my bag I just didn't walk back to the locker room to get it. I'll be glad when I have the space and money to build my own gym so I can just spill chalk all over the place and not care.

I'm sorry to hear about your trap issues. I hope that it heals up soon for you, man. Good job on the squats after the little layoff you had. Layoffs always kind of screw with you in terms of what you can do when you get back from one. Good luck, man!
