The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I've been lifting for 4 months, and have had only strength gains. I know what I need to do, just eat ALOT but I've yet to gain weight. When I DO gain weight I lost appetite, it's as if my bodies fighting me to stay at 140lbs. Anyway here are my pics:
    I know I'm a scrawny ****.
    Stats:
    Bench 180, Squat 200, Dead 245

    PS
    I really can't pose for **** so..sorry

Try having more liquid meals, ie shakes.

Your body probably does want you to stay at 140. You just have to not want to stay at 140 more.

Strong lifts for your weight and experience. You can make some awesome progress if you learn how to eat.

You look pretty good for 140 and your lifts are very good for that weight. When I weighed 140 I looked terrible and my bench was a max of 150.

I now weigh ~170 and I still never have an appetite and hate eating.

    Squat - 455x2 (old)
    Deadlift - 500(old)

    Total: 1280lbs 100% raw

The key to my exercise program is this one simple truth: I hate my body.

thx alot for the comments guys.
yea hardest thing for me probably has to be actually gaining the weight. I'd throw in protein shakes to supplement extra meals but then I won't be hungry enough to eat the other meals. So basically the days where I have protein shakes I don't eat as much. I'm not complaining and I know that if I truly want to be huge I have to eat ALOT, I just have to figure out how to do it without making my self sick haha.

    For omen6,
    3 day split
monday(push)- bench, dips, CG bench, military press

weds(push) - squats, lunges, calf raises

friday(pull) - deadlifts, pullups, chinups, shrugs, bb rows

Make yourself sick. Suck it up and do it. There's no way around it. You'll get used to it eventually.

Or even if you don't, like me, it'll just become habit. Eating sucks anyway and I got so pissed off at my body I said screw it.

    my protein shake:
    2 cups milk
    2 scoops whey protein
    2 bananas
    5g creatine
    ice cream(for extra cals)
    3 tbsp peanut butter
i put in some extra light olive oil sometimes.

It's not really the protein shakes it's just I've been so used to eating like a toothpick all my life. I just gotta do as Sanchez said 'suck it up and do it'.

Eat all of your meals like normal and then take a shake at night. It is a nice 1000cal bonus, been working pretty well for me.

You have an excellent base and judging by your size at 140 you may have some great genetics. You will look great as you continue to grow.

Gaaaaah you piss me off. Just because you look a lot bigger than me at 140, while I'm at 165 (a good 4 inches taller, but still). I mean this in the nicest way possible, of course. <_<

You should keep a journal if you don't already-- and are those stats you posted 1RM?

4 inches is a huuuuge difference man. 5'10" - 6'2"? Imagine me growing 2 inches sideways on each side, i'd be massive.
And yes they are my 1RM.

thx for the comments guys, im still trying to gain weight. it's hard as ****.

    HS Guy,

I looked almost exactly like you when I started. Almost the same stats, too, and I was that size for about 9 years before I decided to change. It just takes a consistent, concerted effort to gain the weight but it can be done. Eat enough calorie dense foods and eat until you can't eat anymore, then eat more anyway. If you are lifting heavy enough and with the right movements (squats, deadlifts, bench, pullups, overhead lifts, etc.) your body will be forced to change. It will take several months or even a year even if you do it right but it will happen. I went from 145 lbs to over 190 lbs in about 10 months doing this. Your lifts will skyrocket, too. Eating and powerlifting worked for me!

you've got an awesome base, am sure that if you work out and do enough cardio, you'll be starving--i know i've gotten to the point where my stomach growls like crazy if i dont eat pretty much every hour. good luck, i expect you'll be over 150 a few months from now. - mike

Your body may tell you "don't grow"; just yell back in a louder voice. You'll win.

Looking great already- excellent shoulders are the frame for a powerful and impressive upper body. When the lbs start trickling on you'll look amazing. Have fun!

^^Haha genetics I guess? But those same damn genetics make me feel full after small meals. I also notice the more hours of sleep I get, the less hungry I am during the day... Say on school days, where I wake up at 8am, I can eat alot during the day. But if I wake up on a saturday at 12pm, i get really full easily. It's weird...
Oh another question, is drinking 8 cups of milk a day okay? I read in another thread I can develop kidney stones?
