    Eating bacon, how bad ?

I get people around me telling me how bad bacon is. I'm on TKD and bacon fits the diet really well. Right now I'm eating a pack of bacon a day. Is this too much ?
    Here's my diet:

    Meal 1
    Bacon 1/2 pack

    Meal 2
    Ground turkey or chicken
    3 tbs olive oil

    Meal 3
    Ground turkey or chicken
    3 tbs olive oil

    Meal 4
    Bacon 1/2 pack

    Meal 5
    4 eggs
    1 tbs olive oil

Thought you were supposed to get a bunch of fats on CKD?

For those that aren't on a diet similar to CKD. Might try turkey bacon which is leaner.

sinep bacon is great and fits in well to the ckd

but yes it has a lot of nitrites in it (very toxic)-actually knowing about nitrite3 chemistry, i cant believe they allow this in food.

Regardless i love bacon but buy the non-cured, non-nitrite bacon from our local whole foods co-op. It also has less fat incidently, but not much less

    good luck w/ the diet!

but most of its just nitrates.
the nitrite levels have to be below some standard. that I can't remember what it is.

I don't know where bacon fits in but refined meats like hot dogs cause Type 2 diabetes if I recall.

They probably make turkey bacon if you want to try that as an alternative to reg. bacon. Not sure on the sodium levels though. But its not like most of us are preping for a contest and have to lower our sodium level

Just eat it for the diet, when you get to the level you want then take it out of your diet if you're concerned. It's not like you'll be eating bacon, or, better yet, following this diet forever.

I currently eat about 4-5 pieces of medium lean bacon a day now and I'm on the CKD diet. Just entered into Ketosis, according to the Ketostix, this morning......WOOHOO!!
