The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Ugh....gaining weight

I never thought it would get this hard.

I used to be a fat kid up until about 2 years ago when I started eating right and running. Then about 14 months ago I started lifting weights. I never really went on a bulk but I steadily put on weight from December of '06 at about 155lbs to beginning of January '08 at 184lbs.

Over the past 7 weeks or so I've put on about 10lbs....but its getting so freakin hard! Ever since I started getting in shape about 2 years ago I really watched what I ate and never ate too much.....because its really easy for me to get fat. But now, its getting ridiculous. If I don't eat at least until I'm FULL then I start dropping weight fast and noticeably. I have to eat at least until my stomach hurts or else I know I'm not even going to be able to maintain.

The truth is, in the beginning, it was a lot of fun eating a crapload all the time, but now its becoming such a chore. Every single meal is getting hard to finish. My standard 1/2 dozen eggs that I've been eating every morning since the beginning of the year seems to be getting bigger and bigger and my stomach is getting smaller.

Am I just a freak or is this pretty standard to run into a weight gaining wall 7 weeks out of the gate?

yea, sometimes when i'm bulking i get tired of eating...just try to find some calorie dense foods so you can get the cals in easier on days when u just dont feel like eating.

IMO, there is nothing easier than gaining weight.

    Just eat more.
Althought it might not be an ideal idea for everybody, the way I gained weight from a 90 lb walking toothpick to where I am now, I set a goal so that I would be at least 0.50 lb heavier than I was yesterday before going to bed.

If you have a hard time chewing down your food, try getting your calories in liquid. That might help you.

10lbs in 7 weeks, assuming its all muscle, is a very very good thing. I think 90% of people here would kill for progress like that.

I may have gained a pound or two of fat but not much more than that. My ab definition has stayed the same. I guess I just expected more because when I first started I was up .2-.5lbs every single morning.

when i started my first bulk like 7 months ago i almost gave up, until i found the recipe forum and my mom introduced me to the blender. if u put those 6 eggs in a blender u can force them in 3 seconds after blended. Anyway, check out the recipe-forum here at wbb

Its easier to drink then chew. There is something about chewing that reminds your body your full. I can drink a 800 calories shake while sitting at my desk and it doesn't even feel like I ate anything until about a half hour after. Try eating a 800 calorie sandwich when you aren't even hungry, not so easy.

yeah we would, because it's impossible <_<

point being it wasn't all muscle, but it's still not bad progress. I don't know what you're expecting cuz ~5lbs a month is pretty dang fast progress

I used to have exactly the same problem. I used to fear throwing up at school and in social situations. Anyways, blending food is amazing. Not only do you get a ton of cals down you but you dont feel full. Mornings were the worst so now I have one every morning and I'm hungry by the time 2nd breakfast comes around.
Have a search in the recipe section, you'll find loads of ideas.

All is well! My home scale is just broken. It has to be.

According to my home (electronic) scale this morning I weighed 189.6.

When I got to the gym today I weighed 198. Now I know clothes and shoes add some weight, and so does food.....but not 9 freakin pounds! When I was weighing 192 in the morning I would weigh about 195 in the gym. So I can only assume that I am currently about 195 morning weight.

Milk is a really good idea.....and I wish I could drink more. But, I'm slightly lactose intolerant so if I drink too much (I never can really tell how much is too much)
