How long can it take to become sick after coming in contact with sick person?

    Just curious...

Sunday I spent a few hours around someone who was very obviously sick. Lots of coughing and sneezing and nose blowing and other typical sick stuff.

Today (Wednesday) I am sick, showing the same symptoms mentioned above.

I guess what I'm wondering is if it's possible that I caught whatever this person had and it's already showing now, OR... does it take longer for this whole process to happen and whatever I have now, I most likely caught some other earlier time.

    Thanks.

Uh, yeah. Which is why the post started with the words "just curious." I want to know for the sake of knowing, not for the sake of doing anything about it.

For a cold, it's usually anywhere from 1-3 days before any signs or symptoms show.

It's also possible you got it from someone else, they might be carriers but not have any symptoms.

But yeah, you probably got sick from the sick dude.

A person can be contagious without showing any symptoms, it's possible you caught it from someone else.
