    Was this a successful bulk?

BEFORE: 186 lbs, 23% bodyfat, 142 Lean Body Mass

AFTER: 196, 25% bodyfat, 147 Lean Body Mass

So I gained about 5 lbs of lean body mass in about 3 months of bulking, and about 2% more bodyfat.

Is this average, above average, or below average results?

    Thanks..

    EC

Below average for 3 months. May I ask why you are bulking at such a high body fat?

Eric you need to stick to just eating oats pb some carbs pre workout but generally after that you shouldnt consume carbs. You have high body fat and consuming carbs when you know you wont be burning them off is just asking for more fat. Plan your diet get a lot of protein and fibres in (protein shakes etc and vegetables, salads) Cottage cheese, tuna, **** like that. No sugary stuff at night. Also how many cals were you on ED?

Just curious, what is the average bodyfat for a person in good condition?

That's hard to answer. Depends on what you mean by good condition.

But to be more direct, I'd say anywhere from 7-14 is top end, 14-20ish average and above that less than average. It really depends on each person and how they carry fat though. And what you mean by good condition

Why am I bulking at 23% bodyfat? Cause I'm an idiot!

But seriously, I was told by a trainer that I needed to gain 6 lbs of LBM before I should start cutting, so I did...

I was eating about 3500 calories a day...

My goal now is to get down to 165 lbs, which would put me around 11% bodyfat, is that a realistic goal? Im 36 years old, 6 ft 1,..

I dont think you want to be 165lbs @ 6'1. Maybe cut to about 180, maintain for a good while, then start bulking again.

If I maintained my LBM at around 148, and cut down to 165 lbs, I'd have 10% bodyfat... what would be wrong with that?

Because you WILL lose some muscle during the cut. At 6'1, 165 you will look very skinny too.

Hell yea, I'm 6'2'' 190ish and I look skinny as hell. Ribs and all still showing. Just cut a bit of the fat and then bulk back up. Then you could be 6'1 200lbs at 10% bodyfat, and theres nothing wrong with that.

Yes, but saying that all local gym trainers are idiots is a silly statement. Granted probably many of them are,... Anyhow, I don't have a trainer anymore, and I did gain the 6 lbs of LBM that I wanted to.. so I'm on my own and back to square one...

This may sound stupid, but I've created a reward incentive program... for every 5 lbs that I lose during this cut, I'm buying myself a DVD... I need something to motivate myself, otherwise I can't cut, its just so boring...

Ha ha ha ha, all that kid did was get fat. There's no apparent muscle gain under the fat. Loser.
