Ok, Me and a few others are gonna start a competition and it'll end 6-15-01...Our lifts with be for x6 reps. For each week I will be doing:

    Day 1:

    Chest (regular workout)
    Triceps (regular workout)

    Day 2:

Back (deadlift at my 6 rep max)
    Biceps (regular workout)

    Day 3:

    Rest

    Day 4:

Chest (bb bench on my 6 rep max)
    Shoulders (regular workout)

    Day 5:

Legs (squat at my 6 rep max)
    back (regular workout)

So my question is if I do my 6 rep max's for squat, bench and deadlift, should I be doing other things for my chest/back/legs or would that be overtraining? Or when I do it should that just be my whole workout for that particular lift, where i usually do 3, do 1 at my 6 rep max? Please help, thanks

    Hey Heath,

If I were you I wouild up your sets to 30 sets pewr bodypart... do a few 6 rep sets and then follow with a good 27-28, 30 rep sets.............. mu ha ha ha

Why not train the other stuff...

I do week in week out, as I normally train ni the 6 rep area...

Why not do you max lifts on designated training days ? ie ... deadlift on back day .... squat on legs day ... bench on chest day !!!!!! Why split it. I think spliting it is overtraining.

    Words of advice:

Competitions are great fun and if you win they are great. It's always good to push yourself that little bit harder in the gym, but rememeber, just because your mate is benching 250lbs (and say for example you can usually bench 200lbs) don't get the ego and think you're superman. You will just be looking for an injury.

But i'm sure you're intelligent ---> you must be if you come to this board!

Ha Hulk No Yates, I was not splitting it..that was my normal workout. My question is...Let's say on squats I usually do (well, for the one time ) 135 x 10, 205 x 10, 8...instead of that I'm gonna be doing my 245 x 6 or whatever I get. Would my 245 x 6 take up just my 3 sets for squat or would that take up all my legs, same goes for bench and dead....I wouldn't think so, but just wondering.
