The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    ME Bench 5.30.08

Today we did double purple bands on a 2brd and then at the end of the workout I did 455 for reps. The shirt set is 585lbs with 200lbs of band tension (785lbs at the top) Going from 200lbs of band tension, to no band tension was a little odd haha. I'll do this for reps again in a few weeks

    Video

I left a little in the tank in the shirt because I want to attempt to hit that same weight on a 1brd next week and then off the chest.

Haha, I didn't even notice that! It actually looks like he's watching you while he was completing his reps and then towards the end it looks like he completely stops what he is doing to watch! I guess you don't have to pay too much attention when using the smith machine!

HAHA! I never noticed that either! His reps get progressively slower and then he just stops. Me, the guy holding the boards and the guy doing my handouts are pretty much the only powerlifters in the gym so they don't have a real good concept of what strength is out there.

you watch, Ryan is going to post a video of him doing 5 reps with 455 now....hahaha

Nice work sir. You remind me that I have to put more band work in. I am going to start using them next month after my meet.

Paul Key turned me on to it. I really like it in the shirt.

Erik, I use a Super Phenom. Pretty jacked shirt although after August, I'll be moving up to the Super Duper Phenom. This is by far the best shirt I've ever worn

Don't get to hooked on the bands in a shirt they are great for lock out work but will throw your groove off full range. You want a big bench in a shirt then bench in training like you would a meet with straight weight.

Thanks for the pointers big guy! I appreciate it. That is part of the reason I'm doing bands right now, my lockout sucks but when I go back to off the chest I'm gonna go straight weight given your recommendation. That will be in 2 weeks
