3 reps a set? Mixing reps?

I remember reading some journals of really powerful guys on this forum.
This is what I would see:

    Bench
    bar x 15
    135x5
    225x2
    275x3
    300x3
    425x2
(I noticed how they are doing really low reps)

    So that's just an example.
Mind you, these guys are not only really strong but HUGE too therefore ruining my theory of higher reps = more hypertrophy.

So now on to my question.
I want to lift as heavy as I can. So I want to work with explosive and really short bursts of strength.
Instead of doing a 5x5, what do you guys think of a 6x3?

So a back day could look like this:

    Deadlifts
    warmup, *working sets 6x3

then maybe some light rows of 3x12?

    followed by pullups of 3x6-8

So basically, I'm mixing all the rep ranges.

But my main question is, I want alot of strength, can I do 6x3?

Hell yeah. I love triples. Check out west side, they work up to a heavy single every Max Effort day but they rotate exercises. Then they do accessory work after that.

Double hell yea! I do it all the time with a PL/OLY routine. There is also nothing wrong working up to a heavy double or single.

I usually work up to a heavy single on a given exercise every workout.
