If I can move my toe, it's probably not broken right?

First night of Muay Thai last night and I nailed the hard bag with the top of my foot/toes. For the rest of the class it hurt to bend my toe forward or back, but I could move it. Today the pain is lessened, but it still doesn't have the range of motion of the other big toe. The side of my toe (towards the other toes) is all bruised and purple, and there is a red line across the top of the toe on the line of the knuckle.

hmm... you can break your toe and still walk on it, which would most likely mean it could bend/move, so i think it may be worth checking out if it still hurts.

Could just be a jam, id wait it out another day or two. Theres not much they can do for a broken toe anyways besides tell you to take it easy on it, so I dont see a rush in going to the doctor.

Well I figure I'll get something on Monday, cause if I just jammed it or sprained it then I'm not too worried about going to class with in on Monday, but if it's broken I'm going to have to not do any MT or BJJ until it's healed.

If it was a broken toe, it should be real nasty looking. If its colored a bit on the side.... sounds like you might of just stretched it a little weird.
Not much a doc can do for your toe anyways... if it was real beat up, I am sure you could figure out what to do.

I think I'm going to go for x-rays tomorrow during lunch just to be on the safe side. I don't want to go to class and deliver a kick that just destroys it.

They probably wont be able to do anything directly, but at least this way you will know and will be able to take precautions if needed to let it heal properly. It may be something that will just hurt but its not damaged (ie bruised bad) or something more serious that can get injured worse.

Exactly. I loved the MMA classes, so if I can physically do them I will, but I don't want to put my body at any kind of risk for more serious injury.
