Not an owner, just good friends with a couple guys who have them. It's a pretty sick car, fast as hell in a straight line. Good luck with gas though.

Yea I wanted one for the longest time. A ls2 engine and you get two back seats for around 20 grand is hard to argue with.

Yeah, and going downhill with the wind. My car is rated 21/27 and I get about 16/23, and that's during real conservative driving. Either way your new car will be a blast.

The new GTO's and the brand new pontiac G8 both come from Australia and are made by Holden ( www.holden.com.au/ ) from what ive read there a good company.

For the price of the GTO and what you get, you almost cant beat it, I say do it if the gas is not an issue for you.
Success is achieved by doing a little more than you thought you could, and a lot more than anyone else.

Make your GTO look like this:
    http://www.gtora6.com/sema_07.htm

That is sexy. Minus the aluminum front grill...
Very good looking car even without the upgrades.

Out of curiosity, why are getting rid of the RSX?

I've always liked those cars and considering getting one.

I've thought about getting one but can't justify it with the cost of gas. It's sure to be a fun car to drive though, some great bang for the buck. You should be able to find one for under $20K.

If he went for an LS1 GTO then maybe, but I get the feeling he's interested in 05 and 06 for that beastly LS2

Well I had a conquest tsi ( turbo'd intercooled) before the rsx that was running 13s in the 1/4 mile and I had alot invested in it. It got totaled last april cause a woman hit me head on =/ I nearly had my leg severed and nearly bleed to death on the helicopter ride. I got out, got a settlement set up and got a rsx. But my main settlement I couldn't get until 18 ( I turned 18 this past saturday). I wanted a gto last year but had no where near the funds. I have the money now and will have plenty of my settlement left to put in a bank and make some interest. No i'm not blowing all my money on a car. The rsx is a great car. No problems, dependable and in it's own right, quick. It loves to be revved. But I miss drag racing every few weekends and miss tuning and upgrading my car. The rsx is a nice car. Just not a car meant to be raced regularly and make big numbers. I will post pics soon as i find a black or red ls2 gto. I'm waiting to one week to see if I can actually sell the rsx myself.

there are no new GTO's... the last one made was 06

In excellent condition with a few "upgraded" features you will drop about $25,000 give or take.

I saw in a Magazine an 06' GTO was 40k. They compared it to the Mustang and said the Mustang was the better bang for the buck.

the lsX engine is an amazing engine, best one on the planet currently.
my 99 transam when stock would get on average 25mpg with romping it around and have seen as high as 27mpg
not to bad for 300rwhp when stock, then when i modded it at 512rwhp it would get 20-22mpg on average romping it around.
im eager to see what the new set up will be with my th400 and 3.00 rear with 700+rwhp, but i have been lazy and doing other things as i need to get it finished.

I guess it depends on where you live and who you're willing to buy it from.

I did an autotrader.com search for the whole country and there are plenty in there, especially 2005 models, for less than $20K.
