The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Lots of Shoulder work. Light light weights. I believe I have screwed my left shoulder. Rotator cuff muscle me thinks. Just when I was starting to do well with my Bench. Ugh!

So now I have a question (or 2) for anybody with experience dealing with this issue.

    1. How many times a week should I do Rotator Cuff exercises?

    2. Should they be done at the beginning of a workout? Or on my days off?

    3. When should I go back to Benching and Pressing? I don't want to rush it. (I'm 43) But I do want to know what my new Bench Max is...........

    Thanks for any advice.
Definately DON'T do it before your workouts man.
As you know my shoulder is fucked too. Seeing a physiotherpist tomorrow you should too

So why shouldn't I do Rotator Cuff exercises before a workout? I'm confused. Wouldn't it be beneficial to loosen up those little muscles before some big compound exercises?

I haven't done any pressing movements for the past two weeks. Shoulder is still sore in certain positions. I don't like being held back like this.............grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Because the rotator cuffs hold the shoulder together. If you exhaust them before heavy pressing you can cause a tear.

Y shoulder is way better since I saw a physiotherapist. Although not 100% yet. Maybe you should see one?

Patricky - After reading the posts in the Powerlifting section about your shoulder rehab, I've come to the conclusion that my case is very similar to yours. So yes, I'm going to book a session next week. I'm gonna take some of the advice that was given to you as well. My upper Back is Uber tight. I can feel the stress in my shoulders and traps and I don't like it.

Did lots of light shoulder work tonight.

I want to get Back to Heavy Benching sooooooo Bad. (Well, Heavy for me )

Gonna skip the workout tonight. Had my shoulder worked up real good yesterday by the RMT. Told me to ice it and not to exercise it for a few days. It definitely feels like he turned it into minced meat. So ya, I'm gonna take it easy for a bit. We'll see how it goes by the weekend.
