    Dumbbell VS. Barbell SLDLs.. Opinions?

What are the benefits and downsides of DB SLDL and BB SLDL? I have been doing DB but I was thinking about doing BB? Which is best?

I like the barbell best, but only because I can take a wider grip than with dumbells. It's also easier to just grab a bar and keep it rather than having to compete with others for the dumbbells. All pretty minor, just minor matters of convenience... essentially it's all the same. That... and I think that we only have up to 120lbs as far as dumbells go on my end. Not enough weight for me.

I agree on the grip... DB's are going to either hang straigh down, or your going to have to inlist the help of your sholders to hold the DB's wide.

BB's you just grab'm wide and pull.

Yeah thats what I am thinking too guys, with DBs you really dont get that great of a grip. My gym only goes up to the damn 110s which is really pissing me off. I am going to be joining the YMCA tomorrow I think. Well see what happens. Hopefully their DBs will go a lot heavier. I might end up switching a lot of my exercises over to BBs. Like flat BB presses etc.

Definately barbell Mon. This movement is custom made for a barbell. Also, hamstrings best respond to lower rep ranges...6-10...and eventually you will be handling 275 lbs or more in this exercise. Having to hold onto 130-140 lb dumbells would be a serious waste of effort.

I go a little bit past 90 degrees, really concentrating 110% on my hamstrings getting stretched out like crazy.

I go down as far as possible without my back rounding. For me this has the bar at mid-shin level. Pretty low.

I did 365x3 last time out. I like them heavy for low reps.

Well, I learn something new everyday. I think I'm going down to low, I'm new to the SLDL's and I was going down as far as I could go which was past mid-shin probably 3/4 shin. I suspect that my back was rounding, I'll check out my form next leg day.

Gotta decide what's more important to you. Hams or traps. I personally am not doing shrugs regularly, but would add them in on probably any day in my current split.

Hmmmm, I always go untill the plates touch the ground and then back up some form work may be in order. Latman your not very big either huh I am 6'2" 250 so I guess more hamstring work is also in order.

Dunno man. Touching the ground would take the tenson off of the hams which is what all these BBers are always talkin about. Plus, going that low for most peeps means rounding the back.
