The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Ross, Thompson Bombed out

    via Powerlifting Watch:

Glenn Ross, weighing in at 441 pounds, bombed out of today's BPC British Championships in Bournemouth, England. Ross, competing raw, squatted 793 and benched 573 pounds before missing three attempts at an 837 pound deadlift.

The battle between two of powerlifting's top superheavyweights at today's BPC British Championships was already over after the squats. Brit Andy Bolton missed his 1,069 opener and 1,102 pound second, before calling for and hitting 1,102 pounds on his third. American Donnie Thompson bombed out of the meet after missing attempts at 1,069, 1,168, and 1,168 pounds. Bolton went on to bench 628 pounds and deadlift 914 pounds for a 2,644 pound total. On his final deadlift attempt, Bolton gave a run at an all-time record 1,004 pounds but came up short.

man, I am bummed to hear Donnie didn't have a good day. I'm sure he'll pull it together and put up another massive total

must say though, I was expecting Bolton to come alot closer to the all time total than he did

Boltons bench is not high enough. i hear hes been working hard at it, but he needs to get it up to have a shot! deadlifting 1000 in a full meet is also gonna be very hard for the big man.

Yeah, me too. Not to diminish what he did or has done in any way, but he needs to get that bench up.

Doesn't Andy hold the all-time total record???
So I am sure that he has a shot even with a bench that isn't where it should be. You can't hold the all-time record and have people saying he needs to up his bench to have a shot? Doesn't seem right.

    I was there.

I didn't see Thompson after his one bench attempt which was apparently a world record attempt but he missed. Glenn Ross WAS MASSIVE! Seriously, you can't miss that man. He also did a world record for number of reps with a single dumbell press, he beat his own record shared with I believe a late strongman of 11reps by 1.

Both of them are ridiculous. Even if Donnie's squat was a little high, he blew that weight back up so fast. It looked effortless. Bolton's deadlifts were amazing, too. He made 815 or whatever it was look like 185 or something. It was really cool to watch both of them on the videos.

no kidding, looked like he was warming up! Pretty hard to tell depth from here IMO. I'm not saying the judges were wrong but personally I can't even really begin to tell how high it is because Donnie has such freakin huge legs, plus that video is from a pretty decent distance
