The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Knee troubles .. scrunching sound but no pain

    Hi guys,

Hope everyone is well, not posted in a while!

Anyway, I've been squatting now for about a year and on and off i've been getting a slight pain over the top of my knee caps. This affects both knees and I'm guessing its the tendon thats the problem. Maybe my tendons are slightly weak? I tend to do a max of 5 reps per set, dunno if going heavy all the time is taking its toll?

However, my main concern is that last week i noticed that when a do a squat and start to come back up again my left knee makes a scrunching noise sort of like screwing up a packet of crisps. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Ive googled this and it says i could have Osteoarthritis.

I didnt use to have any of these problems before I started squatting. Could my form be causing these problems? I tend to use a narrow stance which is less that shoulder width apart.

    Thanks for any help

I started a thread in Gen Health a while ago detailing the same type of problem.

I described it as a tearing noise though ''scrunching'' crisp bag sounds closer to it.

Most were of the opinion that it was a cartilage problem, or lack of as the case may be!

I wouldn't think wraps would help but sleeves will help keep the area warm. My knees will do this if they aren't warmed up enough first.
