The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

What's more important: pr, records or win

When you compete in strongman, powerlifting or bench press meet, which is more important:

    1. pr
    2. record
    3. win/trophy

When I first started competing, winning was everything. Now, it's all about the pr unless it's a pro meet or ipf world championship. During a pro meet or ipf world championship, a lot is on the line.

The PR for me. I'm not at a winning/record level so it's all I've got anyway.

I figure those who are at that level, a record is going to be a PR in some degree, either more weight or more weight at less BW.

PR's. The only person I'm competing against is myself.

To follow up on that, and also what Rhodes (and many other too probably) have said, a PR is something no one can take from you. Its your PR and no one else's.

For bench, its all about the record for me. Now that I back to being able to deadlift and addicted to them again, its all about pr's with them.

its a "pr" thing for me. i figure any time i beat my own all time best i have won a trophy.. i personally lift with much stronger guys, and some times the only way i can beat them is by making pr's every week. a sail boat with no wind goes no where. haha just a little funny there...

Definately a PR. When I get a PR, it's a record and a win in my masters class. If I'm in the open class, it's usually last place, no trophy.LOL
Can't wait 'til tomorrow, 'cause I get stronger every day!

JT has been helping me with my lifting for the last 6 months and encourages me every step of the way. My first meet is in a couple months, so for me it is competing for the first time and meeting others. Therefore, everything will be a PR and the competion with myself, as JT said there is alway someone bigger and stronger.
