The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

An old video i saw a long time ago...

Hey guys, this might be lame but whatever..
A long time ago, maybe two years ago, I came across this video of this guy doing Barbell Curls with his Trainer (who had a mustash) talking in the video about proper form and stuff... This was a retro video, the guy doing the curls was wearing short shorts and the video quality seemed kinda old..
Anyways, I remember the trainer saying " When the going get tough, the tough get going. If that doesn't motivate you nothing will. "

Has anyone seen this video before, and knows where I could watch it? The trainer sais some other stuff that I liked a lot.
    Thanks

That seems to ring a bell... And I believe he was using a straight bar.. It wasn't a very long video, maybe 2 minutes or something.

Mike Mentzer, Not sure if he is still around had a brother Ray. They both may have passed away? First Real advocate of heavy duty that I know of. Lot's drama going up against Arnold in the 70's -80's. Some felt he should have won the last Olympia, that Arnold made a comeback to win.

I think Mike's theory on curl bars is silly. Maybe some of the focus is off the biceps but not that much? Disagree or agree guys?

Remember, to get big, you have to get strong. The two are interconnected. Lift heavy, work hard, and size will come. Like night follows day. It works. Arnold

They both died a few years back.In fact about a month apart. Both were pro bodybuilders.Mentzer, despite what this video shows was a very smart guy.He challenged the old school ways of training and believed in a "one valid theory" to gain muscle. He wrote a few books about his heavy duty style of workouts. While I dont agree with his philosophy 100%,he pretty much revolutionized the way people train.Less volume, more rest, higher intensity workouts. His belief was that taking a muscle to failure once during a workout was sufficient for growth and that anything more was detrimental to recovery. He was a student of the Ayn Rand,Arthur Jones ideals. He scored a perfect 10 on all categories in the 1980 Mr Olympia, only to be beaten by Arnold during his comebak.Arnold was no where near the clear victor, but was given a gift by Weider for helping promote the show.Mentzer retired and went nuts.Battled addiction and schizophrenia. But eventually went on to work with Dorian Yates and others. He was a bit of a kook, but a great thinker.
