    Problem with Internet, Advice Needed

I have had this annoying ass problem with my net ever since I got Comcast a few years ago. Basically, the problem is that I can't get a steady connection to the net. Websites and videos like on Youtube don't fully load, and I get disconnected from messenger programs like AIM, MSN, etc every couple of minutes.

I just had them come in today and set up a new modem, but the problem is still effing persisting. I don't know what the cause of it is. Could it be my router and the ports, or is my internet just not fast enough?

I had the same problem and upgrading the modem fixed it. I don't know what's up with yours dude. Maybe a new router as well?
Being a strong teenager means nothing.

My wrists hurt, but some people don't have wrists to be sore. My knees have tendinitis, but some people don't have legs to get tendinitis in. I seem to be going backwards with training, yet some people can't even walk let alone lift 400 pounds on a daily basis.

Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.

Is it a wireless router? If so, have you tried reinstalling the driver?

Sounds like line quality issues. I'd get them back to your house to check that, if two modems exhibit the same problem and you try the router suggestions (if you have one, bypass it and connect the modem directly to the computer), it's not your problem and they need to fix it.

Well I'll tell you right now somethings afoot...

Comcast doesn't offer an internet that isn't very fast, and some of it (like mine) is just ridiculously fast. I can download a HD quality movie in under an hour (were talking 8-12GB of data), songs download in 1-3 seconds and I can't bog this connection down to save my life. I can be downloading stuff on my PS3, downloading stuff on my 360 and be playing an online game on the computer and all three work like greased lightning.

Your computer, or the actual cable lines in your house are to blame.

You'd need a 26mb/s line to download 12GB in under an hour. Comcast has up to 16mb/s from what I see.

Have you checked the modem settings? Many of them have a timeout option that can frequently drop your connection.

For 3 years I troubleshooted High Speed Data problems. There could be many reasons for your problem. If you want contact me with your hardware (cpu, ram, software, etc.) and I can try to help you. The majority of the time it is not a modem problem, but the techs the HSD provider send out would rather replace the modem then get down to the problem. Not to mention if they do not have the proper test equipment you could have packet loss problems, bad MER/BER, reflections, mismatches etc.

Download Speed: 22190 kbps (2773.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2248 kbps (281 KB/sec transfer rate)

Just did a speed test on speakeasy while downloading stuff on bittorrent

I dont know what speeds im supposed to get, but I know that I usually get very close to 3000/300 KB's down and up respectively if im not downloading stuff when the tests are run.
