Is this the normal way to bench while using a bench and a rack system?
I just bought this Club Weider 565 off a buddy...
You have to grab and put back the bar in front of you and it is kind of throwing me off. I've been going behind me on my last bench and thought that was the correct way to do it.
When I do the incline it isn't much of a problem as when I'm trying to flat bench. I was practicing with the bar once to find the right height and bench position and actually hit one of the holders on the way back up because they seem to be right in the way.
My buddy turned the posts around so the holders were on the outside because he hated benching in the rack to. I'm alone a lot so I need those spotter bars just in case.
Can someone shed some light on this? I have it set up just like the picture in the link with the bench going in the same way.
First of all - link to the pic. I'm not downloading anything off the net.
Its a .pdf file for the manual.
Yeah thought of that but the pulley system is over that way and the bench will not fit.
I have the same rack, who ever designed it needs to be shot. I just switched sides with the bars so the hooks were on the back side like they should be, no way can you bench like they made it, Just look at the rack and see what you need to do to do that. I havent had mine like it come since i got it 4 -5 years ago.
I also driled a couple extra holes so the locking pins set the hooks up high enough to lift off at the right height. I might be able to take some pics if you cant understand what i am trying to say lol.
I dont use the pull down part but i think i had to remove the bar that runs across the bottom when i did, its no big deal, the bottom will not slid together, and i can just slide it like in the middle of the rack if that make you feel better.

Thanks for taking the time w/ pictures and all.
I just put them on the outside for now and maybe will drill like you have it so I can maybe use the spotter bars. I just started trying the dumbells for chest and I really can't get into to much trouble with those.
Cool. Set it up like i have it so you can go heavy, you dont need to drill the 1 inch holes for the heavy bars, but i used to go realy heavy in a shirt so i needed them. didnt trust those little screw in pins.
