    Benching For Runners

    I'm not a runner, nor do I intend to become one competitively, but I was just wondering how much a typical runner benches. Whether it's short distance or long distance, I'd like to hear how much the runners on this site bench. Also, I have always been curious on how much Usain Bolt benches, and if anyone knows that I'd be intersted in finding out. Thanks.

    What does this have to do with anything? And there is no average bench for any particular group of people.

    you max at 205 with bench and squat max at 185? what? and you are 185lbs? I'm so confused.. im so so confused.. how did you do that? what?

    Have you not encountered the bench/curl jockey phenomenon?

    I have ran and my best bench is 372lbs. Does that help?

    Sprinters are pretty jacked. Long distance runners... not so much.

    I used to run a lot, just stopped this month. I only bench 165 . Bench isnt really my best lift though, i feel much better about squat (250) and DL (280)

    I run 10 ks and 5 ks mostly and have done a half marathon. My best raw bench is currently 335 for 3 reps and I'm 186 lbs as of 7 a.m. this morning.

    My buddy is a marathon runner and benches 275.
    5'8" 177 (meet PRs) ALL RAW

    Bench - 290 (291) Pause reps Dead - 500 (479.5) Squat - 446 (430)

    Total - 1236 (1168.4)

    Goals: Bench - 280 met 1/19/09 new goal - 300 Squat - 435 met 11/28/09 new goal 475 Dead - 500 met 1/23/10 new goal 525

    if youre talking about runner runners. like pros or highly competitive runners i can give you a good estimate. an elite sprinter can probably max bench at around 250-300. theyre fairly strong, but try not to gain too much weight and mass. elite distance runners arent strong, since theyre best racing weight is usually a very light weight. most elites probably bench in the 150-200 range.
