The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    My kind of transformation...

Here is my transformation over a year... It really doesn't look like much, but it's really hard for me to put on weight, I'm a skinny bitch.

Not nearly as impressive as many of the other transformations, but hey, I'm working on it

The pictures are June 2007 and like March 2008.... I may be a little bigger now, but not noticeably (at least I don't think)

    June 2007:

    Weight: 148
    Bench: 195

    March 2008:

    Weight: 155
    Bench: 247

Well thanks. I'm about 5 pounds bigger now, but I think I mostly still look like that. I'll have to take some more recent pictures...

Nice work. Your lifts are huge for your weight! What height are you? Because you look fairly filled out for 155.

I'm not quite 5'8. I was about 155-158 in that picture. Now I'm about 160-162 depending on when I weigh myself. I think my endurance is better than my overall strength though. I can probably do my body weight about 20 times on bench. I can do 175 15 times, and 205 10 times. I also can do about 35-40 dips, and like 20 pull-ups.

It's hard for me to gain weight, so when I started lifting, I lost a little bit off my mid section, and just started getting stronger. I don't feel like I've gotten *much* bigger, just stronger and a little more defined. That's one thing I DO like. I'm pretty small, but for a normal non body builder type at a normal gym, I'm pretty damn strong.

How could you have gotten that much bigger? You haven't even gained 10 lbs in about a year. Transformation looks good though, you went from skinnyfat to muscular with low bf%, good job.

Good work. Keep going and always look back to your starting pics.

What are you asking? How have I gotten "that much bigger"? I haven't. That's the point. I haven't put on that much weight. My transformation was going from skinny w/ some fat to stronger and more defined with what I think is very little fat.

Like he said above he didn't get that much bigger. Looking at the first picture he has a pretty good muscular base to start with. And of course you will have the appearance of being much bigger in a flexed state than a non-flexed one. For guys our size (skinny) it doesn't take but dropping a couple pounds of fat to get a defined look to us.

Painzer, that's not to take away from your progress in any way. You have obviously worked hard for those added pounds, believe me I know how it goes. You're looking real good and your lifts are nice too. Good job and keep it up!

Thanks! Every pound I gain is a new triumph... I started tracking my calories this week, we'll see how it goes with gaining some pounds, and I'll be maxing my bench 1 week from tomorrow.

Ha! Not my mirror. Was at a gym while I lived in Spain. Trust me when I tell you the gyms over there are MUCH different... Imagine this... I was the strongest guy pound for pound at my gym in almost every lift...

    That's sad. haha
