The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

keep on bulking or time for a cut? (pic included)

I accidently posted this in the wrong forum so im just moving it here were it belongs.

Sorry guys I only have one pic and dont have access to a camera so this is the best I can do.

So basically, Im 5'7 and started at 128 and im now 171. While I do eat very healthy I eat a bit more then I need and as a result my body fat is higher then I would like it to be. So I need some opinions here. Should I maybe cut back a good 10 pounds or so or keep going? Personally Im leaning towards dropping about 10-15 and then going on a slow bulk after wards but its always good to hear others advice.

Also, what would you guys estimate my body fat % to be at?

PS- yes i know my forearms are horrible. I dont think they grew an inch in the 40 pounds ive gained since last year

Nice job on the weight gain. I would definitely start a cut. You'll look and feel 10x better after you're done.

As far as bf %, I'd say 18-20.

    Do a cut first

    XH,

I'm new to the boards here but I'll "weight in" anyway (pun intended).

You've done great work. Forty lbs is great. I'm gonna guess the BF is about 22%. Doing a little math, cuting 17 lbs would put you down to about 16% BF. That'd have you set for a great slow bulk. I think your instinct of cutting 10-15 is a good one.

    Keep up the great work.

You definitely are thickening up. Good chest, traps and arms. Now cut that gut off, pal. Remember to keep lifting heavy though as you cut.

And he probably used calipers or those scales to measure that 5%, which isn't accurate at all. Take what he says lightly.

And yeh I would cut as well. Losing 20 pounds will make you look great.

    I say bulk.

I'm being serious. Just make sure to add in some conditioning work. If the volume is high enough and you get enough protein you shouldn't be adding that much extra fat on to what you have now.

I eat great foods...Like i said in my original post tho, I prolly ate a lil too much of it lol.

So as of right now its like 10 votes cut, and one lone vote for bulk. I value and respect all of your opinions though

I would never consider a caliper accurate either, simple because people store fat in differe3nt places, and the pinch is never perfect. I was dipped at 5.7xx and read 5.3 on a hand held electric unit the same day. I trust the eletric handhelds and their claimed +- .4% accuracy.

you already now what people here think... but you have to answer your own question. Basically, just like 1000 other posts here you probably want to bulk and just want the justification of total strangers to do so. If you want to bulk you should, if you are feeling fat and want to cut...

I would say it is your judgement call, if you are continuing to make gains and your lifts are going up and you feel good and are healthy, then keep going!!

But if your feeling lethargic and not making gains anymore, cut down, cause when you cut down you will feel better physically and mentally, and then your body will gain nicely when you bulk again.
