    A Big Thanks

I want to send out a big thanks to our crew at Southside. This past Saturday we went and worked the CT Special Olympics Powerlifting Meet. Big Kenny fought off his awake apnea to judge (he stops breathing while he's awake--very strange). Matt "The Landslide" Rhodes and I took a turns loading and judging. Brian and Drew were animals. The loaded and spotted the entire time. I asked if they wanted to switch with me in the judges chair. They weren't having it. Drew's wife and little boy are troopers also. They hung out and supported us all day. By the way--Drew married out of his league. I also know Jonah and DD would have been there had they not had prior commitments. Thanks guys.

Now to the important part, the meet. These guys and girl kicked ass. They competed like you are supposed to compete. Easy openers, tough seconds, and they put it on the line for thirds. They supported each other on every lift. There was no backstabbing. No complaining about good or bad judging. It was just good old fashioned competing. The competitors and families were so happy for the help that they gave us a standing ovation for our help. That feeling was better than any pr I have ever hit.

I have worked this event before, but it felt that much better working it with my boys. Thanks for coming guys. I recommend anyone in the sport who can, to get involved with the Special Olympics. It will remind you why we all do what we do.

Thanks to all for reading my ramblings.

I really do wish I had been able to attend. Any idea on when the next one is so I can mark it on my calender?

Edit: Thank you. My heart still hurts though.

I've helped at special olympic events several times and can say that a lot of these kids/adults competing are a true inspiration!

It was a pleasure to be there. I'm really glad I was able to help out.

And I may have married out of my league, but that just shows my overall craftiness.

Ditto on that one Vinny. I judge a Special Olympic push/pull every year. It's very rewarding and those kids really give it their all. I guarantee that everyone that helps them out is glad they did.

Unbelievable event. I won't miss it next year. Try not to be gay and have a date with your wife that you "forgot about". I saw right thru that one.

Like it's that hard to get someone drunk
Clearly, daddy didn't beat you enough as a child. If you were in front of us you'd show respect, so don't be an internet punk. - Matt Rhodes

The tricky part is keeping them drunk until they can't leave the relationship. Like, say, if she got pregnant?
