    Lean Bulk vs Dirty Bulk?

    Hi Guys,
    I went to see my nutrtionious yesterday and told her I am going back on a bulk. The meal plan she wrote up for me is very lean, it includes no fast food, low carbs, disgusting food (canned tuna, cottage cheese, whole wheat bread). It seems very hard to stay on this meal plan, do you guys think I should just dirty bulk it? My BF currently is 13.5-13.7% at 143 pounds.

    there are a ton of foods that are healthy and taste good too. do you like lean beef, chicken, pasta, peanut butter, steak, baked potatoes etc...?

    your bf is already approaching 14% and you're only 143lbs. eating a cheat meal once a day is fine but keep your calories mostly clean, and make sure you're eating enough to gain, but not too much because you dont want to put on excess fat.

    What height are you? I would go on a dirty bulk, just eat whatever you want, that's what I'm doing. I find it difficult to put on weight, so can't be bothered with eating all the "correct" food right now. If you gain some unwanted fat, you could always cut a little for the summer.

    But, you went to see a nutritionalist, he/she is hardly going to tell you go eat MCd's and fast food, are they...

    I would go high calorie but try to keep it relatively clean.

    Eat a ton of whole wheat pasta, drink a lot of milk, lean red meats, protein shakes (Maximus is a great mass builder).

    You're going to have to train heavy and make sure to sleep a lot.

    It will take time and discipline but you can easily gain 10-15 lbs within 6 months while maintaining the same bodyfat percentage as long as all of the variables are in place.

    I wouldn't go back to a nutritionist that has you bulking on low carbs. In their defense, they probably don't design many bulks.

    is it sufficient enough to drink 1.5 scoop of weight gainer + 2 scoops of peanut butter before bed? (1.5 scoops = 325cals + 32.5g of protein) alongside 2 scoops of pb makes for about 485cals + 38.5g protein

    It certainly would depend on the rest of your diet but that looks ok. I'm not a fan of weight gainers as most of them are just sugar + whey. So a whey shake in milk+peanut butter and a handful of almonds (or something) would be much more nutritious.

    In all seriousness, how big is this nutritionist? Is she/he a bodybuilder? Does she/he have an ounce of muscle on her body or is she just skinny? Here's another question for you. If you need the oil changed on your car, are you going to take it to a brake specialist? I really hope not. Don't ask people that don't look the way you want to look, for advice. If you want to get big, ask the biggest guy you can find. If you want to get ripped, look for the biggest, ripped guy you can find.

    Just eat until your stuffed everytime you feed. If you eat some kind of:

    Beef
    Eggs
    Chicken
    Pork
    Rice
    Pasta
    Potatoes
    Peanut Butter
    Bread
    Oatmeal
    Milk

    Everyday, you're fine. DOn't be afraid to eat dessert after every meal, either. If you eat well, the extra calories from carbs will do wonders in helping you gain weight. Train hard, rest 8-9 hours a night, and stay very well hydrated and you'll be fine. If you look forward to eating, you're not eating enough.

    nutritionists know what they're talking about, that's how they became nutritionists. just because they're not huge doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing-im sure most women don't desire to be huge (a lot of nutritionists are female).

    the guys who train Michael Phelps can't swim nearly as fast as him, does that mean they don't know what they're doing? the guys who trained mike tyson, oscar, mayweather, ali, and lewis most of whom were never championship boxers themselves, does this mean they shouldn't be listened to? im assuming rhodes was kidding when he said this, nobody really thinks this way, right?

    When i'm at home I eat chicken breast and rice, tuna, cottage cheest, natural peanut butter, but when I need lunch out or dinner out it's double cheeseburgers or Chilis and Applebees. I wouldn't worry jut enjoy yourself. As long as your not eating a pack of oreos a day and washing it down with some sugary sodas 24/7 you should be ok. Just make good use of the extra calories and train harder than ever.

    No skinny broad is gonna tell me how to get big. They simply don't get it. Training a prize fighter and getting f#$%ing jacked are 2 completely different things. One is technique, conditioning, film study, and the other is simply eating.

    Like I said, do you take your car to a brake specialist when you need the oil changed? It seems you would. And, this is why you're small in a big man's game.

    Lol. This is so true. Eating should be a chore, as opposed to a pleasure when your bulking, at least it is for me. Always stuffing your face, when your not even hungry, and barely keeping your food down, i am still yet to puke thankfully.

    If you decide to eat clean, after every meal, you can add 1 1/2 cups of whole milk with 1 tbsp olive oil mixed in. Then swallow a couple tbsp's of PB like pills with the milk. It's an easy way to add around 535 kcals each meal. I personally prefer getting my daily dose of McDonalds since I'm so busy. I cant imagine eating enough chicken breasts and veggies to get in enough kcals. But to each their own of course.

    protien shakes made with 100% whey and milk are amazing too. Take 2 or 3 of these a day along with whatever you normally eat (adds about an extra 500 calories per shake assuming you use 2 scoops of protien). They really help to get extra calories in, and it's very easy to drink. It's like drinking a cup of chocolate milk. Good for you, good for getting extra calories, and they taste good. You really can't go wrong.

    Most nutritionists are like doctors, they think everyone needs to lose weight, probably because 90% of Americans really need to lose weight. I known a handfull of nutritionists in my life, their clientele are generally people looking to lose weight. I don't think most doctors and nutritionists are ever really educated on "bulking", unless they specialize in bodybuilding clients.

    I think no one on this forum is going to recommend an all out dirty bulk, but I personally pretty much eat whatever I want. Fast food, pizza, etc. My fat gains have been fairly minimal. Someone I think on this forum mentioned this and I totally agree, "If you are training really hard, you can pretty much eat anything you want and not gain excessive amounts of fat." People that see me eat think I am freaking crazy and always ask where all the calories go.

    You are only 143lbs, gain weight. Then worry about lean diets.

    Considering most people (well Americans at least. I am american, so I can talk s***) are pretty much out-of-shape from lack of exercise and crappy eating, I think most "nutritionists" specialize in teaching people how to not be lazy, fat-asses. Considering that most people aren't going to hit the gym because that would require effort, the next easiest thing they could do would be to just start eating healthy. Most probably won't do that either, because that takes dicipline as well. That's how most people, from my experience in meeting people, are.

    According to my height and weight on one of those chart thingys, I'm "overweight". If I weighed what I do now, but didn't lift all the time, then I'd be a fat ass. I'm in damn good shape though.

    Not really sure where I was going with that. I was just rambling on about random crap.
