    Finally...

This may not seem like a great accomplishment, but I'm sure the majority of you can relate with what if feels like to finally acheive something you've been after for a long, long time.

After years of ups and downs, I finally hit my goal on bench press of 300 lbs!

Just saying it feels awesome. My new goal is 315 before the end of the year. After that, it's cutting time.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that.
    Bench: 300
    Squat: 345
    Power Clean: 245

Mr. Sanchez is right. Typically (for me) whatever I could do 4x, I could do 20lbs more once. I think it's a safe bet you could get that if you really wanted to. Don't let that 2nd 45 plate on each side scare you. I was mentally blocked on that when I was coming up. I got lucky in getting over it due to a gym partner not savvy in the art of arithmatic. I wanted to try 225, and my partner put on 235 by mistake. We weren't using 2 45's on each side, so I didn't really notice, since he was just supposed to add 10's. He added 10's and 5's and I pushed it up. I was stoked that I got up 225, so imagine how insanely amazing I felt when I realized that I got up 235 instead! When they say, "It's all mental," I think it is things like this that they're referring to.

I guess it also depends on training though. The whole, muscular strength and muscular endurance.

For example, I had a friend in weightlifting class in high-school. I could bench 185x8, he could do 185x4 before being burnt out. However, he could bench 10 lbs more than me on max day. Now that I think about it, lactic acid and ATP could have played a part, but I didn't know what either of those were when I was 17 so lol...

Congrats, I'm probably at or near that as well. I might max out once I finish my 245 5x5 routine. Been a pain in the ass for weeks. My goal was also 315 by the new year but I don't think that'll happen now that I've stalled out for so long.

Wow, thanks for all the great replies everyone.

Seriously, it's encouragement like this that really makes a guy want to work out harder to be able to come back and share his acheivements with the rest.
