Im doing the Coan Phillipi Deadlift Routine This is a Rack Pull from this week. And no ,I didnt mean to drop the weight like that on the second rep.
The box makes it about Equal to off the floor height.
What's the point in pulling out of a rack on the box? The purpose of those rack pulls are for top end work if I recall

What is your max pull from the floor?
I would say what you did is good for an ME type movement, but definitely doesn't duplicate pulling off the floor. I'd say that was a few inches up, plus it comes off the pins differently than it does off the floor. I'd be willing to bet you bent the pins and the bar on that bounce, lol.
Also, are you going to compete? If so I would make sure to work on a smoother lockout(no hitch). You are definitely bull strong, just need to clean it up a bit.

Dude, that 2nd pull, even though it was a "touch and go" type thing, went up ridiculously easy. That was impressive!

do heavy rows and bicep work and you won't have to worry about tearing a bicep.
the hitching could either be an upper back weakness or just a form problem.
Nice pulling. One plus of pulling off that box/pins is it probably makes it a hell of a lot easier to load and unload plates.

i think what causes bicep tears is when someone starts to hitch a deadlift and puts all the force on the bicep. I'm not really convinced some curls are going to solve the problem, it seems like more of a form issue.
I use straps in training somtimes as it allows me to use a little better deadlift form constantly as ive noticed sometimes when I do reps with a mixed grip I twist - singles is fine though. mind you, i have ridiculous sized hands and grip problem has never really been an issue for me, other then on skinny deadlift bars where my hand is to big for the bar so i end up ripping my hands open.

you might want to get some better footwear to pull like wrestling shoes or socks but still very nice lift.
So i think he was thinking that maybe by strengthing up the biceps, it may help to lessen the chance of a tear, which i can see his point of view.
It wont totally eliminate the risk but it will significantly reduce the risk.
