Any of you deadlift experts tell me if i'm doing them incorrectly?
I have problems coming down. Am I bringing the weight down in a completely controlled manner? Or am I ALMOST "dropping" it in a sense?
I've put on a little more weight than what I first started doing them as and now it's as if my body doesn't know to bring it down in a totally controlled motion or "dropping"...
You don't need to let it down slowly. In fact it's probably better if you don't. Just don't drop it completely and keep your hands on the bar.
This powerlifter at my gym drops the weight at the top of his lift then resets every rep. Even when I am doing my max (405) I still hold onto the weight on the way down. Just beng at your hips and let that thing fly down.
If I am doing touch and go reps, I usually lower the weight slower and try and just tap the floor.
If I am doing reps from a stop on the floor, I let it down fast, but maintain control by holding onto the bar.
*After my last rep or if I pull a heavy single, I drop it like it's hot from the top!
*I lift with a powerlifting team and we have our own facility with our own platform...most commercial gym would flip on you if you drop it.

At one of my first competitions the head judge asked one of the SHW lifters to stop slamming the weight down so on his third attempt when he got the 'down' signal he did a completely controlled, slow decent and set the weight down like it was 135lbs on the bar.
