NES and SNES emulators and games

I just started playing these and they are awesome. Its a blast from the past. I stopped playing video games about 5 years ago, the new games are complicated and I'm too old. Mario Kart never gets old though. Anyone else use emulators to play old school games on their computer?

I have an xbox with a hard drive with all of the NES and a lot of SNES games. It also has all of the Atari games and some sega, dreamcast, and a few others. I honestly will never be able to play every game I have.

I'm sure you can find one. My buddy had a disc for Dreamcast.

Yea, I have that for dream cast too (actually, it was THE reason I bought one!) but then I broked it. Ah well it was fun while it lasted!

This sounds pretty cool. Are these just programs that you install in computers? Can someone post links on where to buy these?

Hell no. I still play my actual SNES. My friend Sarah comes over, we get drunk, and play Super Mario All Stars.

I don't think that you can buy them...because everyone just downloads them. If you have a torrent program, look for SNES emulator.

And yeah, I love the emulators. Pretty cool that I can play games from when I was a kid, right on my computer.

only reason I didn't sell my PS2 when I got my ps3 was for the emulators

    I have like five disks

NES disk with an emulator and 500 games
SNES disk with emu and probably 50 games
Sega Genesis emu with 100 games
    MAME disk with 1000 games
and one other one i can't find right now

    Through PS3 its possible with BD-J.... here's a link

note that this does not discuss how to get roms, and the emulator is legal as the patent on the 8 bit nintendo is long expired

    For an emulator, try emulator-zone.com.

And for the games search for NES or SNES and roms. Some of the more successful franchises (like Zelda) you won't find roms for because the publishers threaten to sue anyone who allows access to them.

Technically, roms aren't illegal, as long as you have the original game--sorta making a copy of a record or tape you already owned (wow, I'm dating myself there...)

Also, I've see large groups of roms on some of the filesharing sites like torrentz.com

Ha, emulators are amazing. I use my wired XBOX 360 controller to play n64 games with a controller on my laptop, and I can also play PSOne games on my PSP. Portable Resident Evil and Final Fantasy 7!

Been in the emulation scene since '99ish.

    www.zophar.net for all emulation-related things.

Google for ROM sites... unless we're allowed to link the good ones here.. the torrents of them are also good.
