    Scandisk/Flash Drives in Windows Vista

I don't know if the problem is with Windows Vista or my new laptop but for some reason when I take flash/scandisk drives, the small and skinny rectangular disks, and put them into my laptop's flash drive nothing happens. In Windows XP (I'm kinda new to Vista) I used to just go to "My Computer" and the "removable drive" would usually be present and I could double-click on that to get the files and images off of it.

With Vista I try going to "Start" and then "Computer", which I assume is the equivalent of what I did when I had XP and there is no mention of the removable drive(s) there. How on Earth am I supposed to get files or photos off of my flash card and flash drives?

Is it something wrong with my driver for those drives or has anyone else had this problem before?

I take it, the flash card drive is inside your laptop right? Or is it a usb adapter?

If it's built in to your laptop, it's probably a problem with the drivers for the flash card drive. Post a screen shot of device manager. Also, go to the website of your laptop manufacturer, and find the drivers for your laptop. You should be able to download them individually, download and install the flash card drivers.

Ya know for some reason when I tried it that original way it didn't work. I tried something different and left the disk in the camera and put the camera on the dock which can connect to my laptop via USB and my computer read it. So I'm assuming it's something wrong with my flash drive.

For some reason under my computer's Device Manager, under the Other Devices > Mass Storage Controller there is a yellow exclamation mark so I'm thinking that's my problem. It says the drivers are not installed for it so I'm assuming I gotta go find the driver for it.

Thanks for the help I think I'm just gonna find the driver somehow although I never really have much success with finding them. Looks like I'll be using the camera dock for a while.

I should be taking some pics of my buddies and me at a big rave tonight. If there are some goodies I'll post it up for you guys.

Um yea the exclamation point means the drivers for it aren't installed. I'm going to assume that they should have came on a disk with your laptop, or you should be able to get them on the manufacturers website
