    CHEST Day; 3 chest exercises too much ?

    I have seen alot of body builders recommend doing three exercises for chest on same day. What is your opinion of that ? They do Barbell Incline Press, Dumbbell Benchpress, and finish with dumbbell flies.

    Is that too much volume or ok to get better gains ?

    There are probably better methods.

    Dont forget that BBers usually wont do the routine the reccommend and that they also use drugs so they can handle that amount of work.

    flys are useless(thats what i think)... just do incline bench/flat bench... hvy sets, they work.

    Ok so lets say I just do Incline and Flat bench. Should one be with barbell, and the other with dumbbell ? And which one should use bar and the other dumbb ?

    And I was thinking of changing my reps to like 8 - 10 range, no more 5x5, I have done that for last couple of months. So if I do go higher reps, no more than 10, how should I do so ? 2x10 and 3x8 ??

    If you want something different I wouldn't see a problem with 3 or 4 sets of 6-10 reps. I would alternate the bar and dumbbells.

    Fly's aren't useless... they help with your flexors muscle groups and help with stabilizing the bar.

    No that's not to much. Just do 5x5 on all of them. I would do the flies before I would do the db bench (just my opinion)

    You know, personally I've just cut it right down to the basics. I lift as heavy as I can 5x5 presses and it's been working well for me. I take as much time between each set as I need, and I've been adding weight each week. So to answer your question, in my most humble opinion, perhaps you're doing too much.

    I would suggest mixing it up. Using 5x5, 3x3, and even lower reps on big lifts and then banging out more reps on assistance or even isolation exercises. I noticed that in your log, you operated around 5-6 reps in all your lifts.

    Zorachus, what works perfectly for one may not be optimal for another. Did you truly exhaust your 5x5?

    On Mondays I normally do 4 sets on bench from 15 to 12 to 10 to 8 reps
    Same on Incline
    Decline Dumbells 85X15 95X12 105X10
    Cables upper and cables lower 3 sets of each
    And if I feel real dood I throw in some BB Decline

    I would go with more frequency and less sets/exercises.

    simple:
    you want to make gains in strength, keep the reps low...
    you want to focus more on building size, u can do higher reps but u gotta eat a ton

    5x5 for 3 chest movements once a day is way too much.

    Why would you do flies before DB press?
