The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

OMG.....one of the most impressive lifts Ive seen. I'm loving these raw lifts. To me, they are so much more impressive.

Incredible, the standard is really being raised with some of the recent raw lifts we've been seeing. I think it has really shown that these guys aren't just putting up numbers because of the gear they are wearing, they are just insanely strong, equipped or unequipped. Guys like Kellum, Byrd and Cieri are doing great things!

Yes Kellum continues to impress me. He has been at it a LONG time and still among the top lifters. Gear numbers are impressive, but raw is what i care about. I am glad to see this because i had Jesse's record of 909 at 198 taped to my wall for many years. I always wondered how we would stand up without the gear. Question answered. Great lift Jesse.

Wearing a belt counts as raw?

Not trying to take anything away from the guy, but i was always under the impression that raw meant no support of any kind.

Everything is raw until the straps are up. That is my definition of raw.

I have never heard of a federation that does NOT allow a belt for raw lifting. Not using one only predisposes a person to serious injury.

Travis don't you know lifting raw means walking to the platform naked? I think a tube sock is sometimes allowed, only one ply though...

It was my impression that guys had been squatting with belts since about the time powerlifting was invented. If you're going to take away the belt you might as well take away the shoes too.
