The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Terry: I have never been to Mexico. Haven't been on a true vacation in my adult life. My buddy decided to get married there (his fiancee is from Spain and her dad lives in Cancun), so me and some guys decided to extend it for a fews days into a vacation. I'm pumped.

    Behemoth: Thanks man. My lats look much better from the front than the back.

    OH Press week 2, round 2:
    OH Press: 115*3, 125*3, 130*9
    ->don't think I did the right weights. Think I was supposed to be 5lbs lighter on all. Not a big deal.

    DB Bench: 105*10, 100*8, 90*10, 80*12
    ->little bit more reps than last week.

    Cybex Pulldowns: 230*14, 220*12, 210*8->170*4
    ->same as above.

    Pushdowns: stack+7.5*15, 15, 12

    BB Complexes: 2 sets. Video will be added soon.

    Notes: Went out again last night. This time just a board game night with some friends. 3 beers and 3 glasses of wine gave me a wicked headache last night. Didn't get home until almost 3. Missed some eating last night. Probably headed to a bar shortly for the 2nd half of the Jets game. I live in Jets country. Should be pretty crazy out there.

    Cocoa, RBB, and Geo: Thanks guys.

    Deads week 2, Round 2

    Deads: 300*3, 315*3, 335*8
    ->tough set, but felt strong

    Back Extensions: +25*15, 15, 15, 15

    Leg Press: 4pps*20, 20, 15

    BB Complex: 2 sets.

    Notes: Weight was 189. This workout had me sucking some wind. After my complexes I was just dripping sweat. Lower back got real tight, but loosened up after some stretching.

    Terry: The stress is still there, but just coping with it better. Keeping the headaches down. I'm human. I can only do so much!

    Off Road: Thanks man. I was trying to change it the other day, but got too lazy to resize. Done.

    No real target. I have another 8 weeks of bulking. Would like another 5 or so quality pounds. I upped my calories a bit this week. Now around 4000 a day. Slightly more on off days.

    Joey: Thanks man. I think 300 would crush me. I doubt I would even get 275. I have always been better at higher reps than pushing out singles. Probably form issues.

    Squats Week 2, round 2:
    Squats: 245*3, 265*3, 280*7
    ->decent effort. Knee was acting up.

    Notes: Weight was 191. Good to see back over 190 again. Did more than this, but don't feel like posting it right now. Got my first headache in a couple weeks. Been a real stressful week at the office. Was there late last night. Haven't slept well. Have no appetite tonight, and will probably fall a couple hundred calls short since I am going to lie down. I'll hit the journals tomorrow and get caught up. CP

    Joey: Thanks man. I love this cybex pulldown station. It's only at the gym by my apartment which I've been hitting up on the weekends. I will probably start rotating in some rack pullups DC style.

    Behemoth: Thanks man. Shoulders have always benefited from my dips. Calves have always been decent from soccer and mt biking as a kid. Still only a little over 16" right now, but staying on par with my arms.

    Off Road: Time to move up to 2 wheels per side! Ha, some day.

    Deads Week 3, round 2:

    Deads: 315*5, 335*3, 355*8
    ->not too bad. Was hoping for 10, but don't get greedy.

    Standing Calves: didn't write it down, just waiting for the curl machine

    Ham Curls: forget...it's inside

    25lb DB Complex: burpee/pushup->clean->front squat->OH press * 8, 6, 6
    ->DBs were a bit too heavy.

    75 lb BB Complex: RLDL->BO Row->Curl->Push Press->Front Squat * *8, 8
    ->I was dripping sweat and sucking wind.

    Notes: Weight was 194 at the gym, 191 and change at home. Scale is moving a bit. I pigged out this weekend at a family style italian restaurant. Not surpised the scale moved!

    Nice deads! 355 x 8 is no joke. Those complexes sound interesting. Whats there main purpose? Fat-burning, accessory work, etc.... and on what days do you perform them? I''m curious because I may start doing a few.
