The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Floor Presses 1-31-2009

First time doing these. If I did them wrong or if you see something I can do to improve please let me know. If they are good then let me know that too. Thanks

Warm-ups. Legs extended flat on the floor for each set.

    Cable pushdowns
    70lbs 2 sets x 10
    80lbs 2 sets x 10

That was it. The floor presses felt ok, just trying something different. Hopefully they will help out my flat bench.

    Good stuff Cyrus!

Only thing I'd recommend is having your arms come in full contact with the floor. Almost a pause, not quite, but almost. You don't want to slam the floor though.

Wow man. You are insanely strong... are you sure your max bench is only 480?? With a floor press of 455 x 3, I would think it'd be more than that!

Cyrus has posted a video before of him doing 500 for an easy very strict single. Very strong bencher. I believe 480 is his contest best to date?

Yeah, 480 is my best in competition. I'm good for a little more than that, but I hope to put it together at a meet in 09.

Thanks man. Yeah, I do a lot of back work to help my bench--it's getting there.

Damn man very impressive especially for a natty lifter and raw. Apparently you don't compete in the squat but do you train with them?

Thanks a lot. Correct, I do squats in training but not in competition. I may take a shot at it later this year.

    Got it. Thanks.

BTW, what should I expect out of this lift as far as helping my flat bench? More power at lockout? From the range of motion that is what I expect, but I could be wrong.

yea it is tri intensive so it is good to get through lock out sticking points. It helps in that you are moving dead weight with no stretch reflex at the bottom of the lift, kinda like a box squat for squatting.
