    You know what would suck?

If you were born with 6 fingers.

Think about it, you wouldn't be able to flick people off. Sechs.

This is a useless quote that means nothing but yet defines me as a profound intellect.

If I remember correctly some kid was just born with 12 fingers and they were all functional. I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't find the story very significant.

Now maybe even they could isolate the gene that caused (assuming it was a mutation or whatever) the 12 finger phenomenon then maybe in the near future we could perpetuate the trait. Of course this is assuming it ends up being beneficial to have 12 fingers which it most certainly might not be.

The gene for extra digits is a dominant trait. Following the logic of natural selection dictates 5 fingered homo sapiens are more apt to thrive. Nature has already deemed it superior.

Antonio Alfonseca, the pro-baseball pitcher, has 6 fingers on at least one of his hands. I'm sure that helped him in some way with throwing the ball. I'm sure there might be similar advantages for other things.

Dominant for the time period in which this was evolved out of our possible configurations.

Sorry, my use of the word dominant wasn't clear. The trait for extra digits can be expressed with only one allele for the gene, making it a dominant trait. It's not dominant in the sense you inferred.

    Let me restate.

It was superior at the time it was evolved out. I know the difference between dominant and recessive ****ing genes.

Is it still inferior today? Who knows. We don't go around clubbing **** in the head much (at least in the north), so maybe 6 fingers would work better in our current world. A lot of desk jobs, musicians, even some hands-on jobs. Life's a lot different these days.
